"Romeo and Juliet" style endings/relationships in games Anonymous 11/18/2024 (Mon) 01:20:10 Id: 17e7d4 No. 1040717
For some reason, I'm rather interested in stories where something like this happens >Star-crossed lovers >Seems to be a perfect pair >They get into some sort of trouble and have to separate or can never see each other again, or one of them loses their memories or something like that Maybe I'm just feeling masochistic. I don't know. In any case, the only ones like this I can think of are <Tatsuya and Maya in Persona 2 <Kurisu and Okabe in Steins;Gate Unless you count the true ending <Professor Layton and Claire from the Unwound Future Got any more? Post them ITT. Bonus points if it's not just from visual novels because I could probably name a few more from that genre. Also use this thread to post some good couples from vidya in general.

Pandora's Tower has multiple endings like that, with Ending B fitting your description best. Just get Elena's affinity up to 5 or 6, and make sure you emulate it, because the last dungeon is bugged to crash often on real hardware. Sin and Punishment 2 has a twist ending almost like that if you beat the game on Isa and Kachi mode, but it's such a sudden cliffhanger, you don't even see it register with Isa.
Valkyrie Profile, while Lucian and Lenneth's story gets resolved in the true ending, the Einherjar aren't reunited with their partners.
(342.82 KB 843x467 Majin tensei 1.png)

Majin tensei has it as a big vocal point with the main relationship. There is a true ending where there is no death, but there is 20+ things you have to do in game to get it that it's pure bullshit the amount of times you have to replay a single 2 hour stage for a different cutscene to explain one thing in the sequel. Unless putting in 8-10 hours worth of grinding for the true ending, the normal ending is good enough.
I vaguely remember this guy back when I played FF4 https://finalfantasy.fandom.com/wiki/Edward_Chris_von_Muir >Edward Chris von Muir >Edward was born and raised in Damcyan, but disliked the idea of playing politics and preferred music. He traveled the land as a bard and fell in love with a girl named Anna. When Tellah, Anna's father, did not approve of their union, the two ran away making Tellah furious, and he followed them looking to take Anna back. >(...) Anna dies. Having lost his parents, his love, and with his kingdom in ruins, Edward breaks down in tears. Cecil slaps him across the face and demands his help, (...)
The Fires of Raven ending for Armored Core 6 feels this way: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T_ctDItH5-c Ayre is your sentient companion, she helps you throughout the story, I really felt like she was a friend, maybe more than that.. Also, the events in the "true" ending (Alea Iacta Est) is an allegory for reproduction, by multiplying with her across the stars

>>1040717 Illusion of Gaia. If you've beaten it, you know what I mean.
>>1055800 Illusion of Gaia got a Christmas hack, Illusion of Gaia Retranslated. https://github.com/Azarem/IOGRetranslation/releases/download/iog_rxlt_10/iog_rxlt_10.bps >New Translation by L Thammy! >When starting a game, the options menu now offers the choice between the North American localized names (Will, Lance, Seth, etc.) or original Japanese ones (Tim, Rob, Morris, etc.). Please note that in v1.0, choosing English may lead to text minor overflow, but this will be fixed in v1.1 This option replaced the choice between Stereo and Mono. Stereo is now enabled by default. >Unique borders were designed to better represent the personalities and cultures of the story’s characters. The original white border remains in-game, usually being used to describe actions that are occurring. >The number of lines and placement of text windows has been adjusted where necessary. Minor graphical changes have been made to the HUD to accommodate for this change. >Inventory stacking has been implemented for certain items, such as Medical Herbs and Red Jewels. At present time, no numeric indicator exists to specify the amount carried. This will be addressed in a future patch. >The inventory menu screen currently displays certain debug elements such as x/y position at the bottom of the screen. This may be removed in future patches. >Now there’s a Sprint Button! You can also still sprint using a double-press on the D-pad. This can definitely be considered an accessibility option for those who struggle with or dislike the original method. It also makes Illusion of Gaia play a bit more like its successor, Terranigma. >Dialogue has been made harder to accidentally skip through. Several button inputs that allowed text to advance were disabled to make this possible. >The option to end your game when speaking with Gaia has been removed, as it essentially resulted in a soft-lock for no reason. >Asset decompression allows scenes to load MUCH faster. >MSU compatibility is now included. Instructions for its use can be found in section 2 of this document. >Sky Deliveryman has been added back into the endgame. Aside from the ability to return to the South Cape, Itory Village, and the Larai Cliffs, nothing about those areas has been changed at this time and traveling to Itory Village will prevent your return to South Cape. Until this is addressed in a later patch, please save before experimenting with the Sky Deliverman and be careful!

>>1055734 AC6 will never stop being hilarious to me with how easily it convinces you to become a battery with a few sweet words. The Ranni ending on steroids.
>>1055734 Her English VA did a good job with this. I felt empty after the fight with my waifu
>>1057426 Am I the only guy who didn't feel that bothered by it. Yeah she was a friend, but it was between the woman who was clearly manipulating me and trying to disperse a super-organism across the universe or fulfilling the legacy of my boss's final request and destroying it once and for all. The choice was clear enough to me. I felt more for having to put down Rusty in a climactic final battle with infinite boost as you and your opponent soar higher and higher, than I did having to kill Ayre. Hell, his final line sells it much better than Ayre's rambling: I won't stop! I'll chase the clouds from over Rubicon. Only I can fly high enough!.
Do Visual novels count?
