Suikoden I&II HD Remaster Anonymous 03/06/2025 (Thu) 20:23:36 Id: e59734 No. 1077791
Released today, anyone playing it?
No, it looks like a mobile game with the new backgrounds. I'll just emulate the PS1 version with a CRT shader, it looks better that way.

>Gaming in 2025 >Half assed remake of a classic gets released out of nowhere >You have to check what they censored or removed from past versions >You have to check the changes made in the script >You have to check if it has body type A or B >You have to check out if it has DLC >You have to check out who worked on the western release
>>1077791 How shit is it?

Not like the original games were that great. They're just subpar JRPGs with a "huge cast" of one dimensional party members who have 2-3 lines. Chrono Trigger had town NPCs with more personality than 90% of the Suikoden cast. The army combat mechanic is a fucking joke, they're all scripted you-win or you-lose scenarios. It's one of games where brain dead autists think it's good because "IT HAS A HUGE CAST OF CHARACTERS", but that's a piss poor metric to judge a game by. It's the same as judging the quality of an operating system by how quickly it boots up.
>>1077884 One of my concerns for the suikoden games was what you're describing. Usually things that market themselves with HUGE CASTS end up having the character and writing depth of a puddle. I assume it's great for people who enjoy customizing shit and creating their ideal party from a gameplay perspective, but I have less interest in that sort of thing myself.

>>1077805 Oh Jesus, that looks terrible. >poorly implemented fog >weird perspective >high-res sprites with pixel art >poorly shaded character portrait >several conflicting art styles
>>1077884 Chrono Cross had a huge while not perfect and all i felt it had charm even if it didn't explore so much each and every character, it was the little things
>>1077902 Tales of Destiny on ps2 look so much better, i fucking hate these fucking pixel niggers.

>>1077937 I'm guessing most of the textures in the game are from paid for texture packs/tile sets. Can anyone get a hold of the games credits? We might be able to find the texture packs they used and if we can get the price points we might be able to make a stink about how little they paid and shame them into doing it right.
>>1077884 >>1077885 The appeal for me was the base building with the recruitable 108 characters as Tir and possibly Riou turn into a small nation. That's not to say there weren't any useless or redundant characters but it's a concept I wish someone else capable could do since Murayama has already passed. >>1077937 >1st pic This may be a problem with 2 since I remember there's a hidden wall Riou has to go through in the story.
>>1077937 It looks like and RPGMaker game now, I don't know why these kinds of remasters are so popular and why people seem to like them.
>>1077948 hmmm, its only 9gb and it looks like it's been cracked as well. Its a unity game, so I might be able to load in the credits scene with CinematicUnityExplorer
>>1077949 Yeah I figured it was probably cracked after posting that. I also found a smaller repack at 4.8GB. 1AE59BC2
>>1077947 >It looks like and RPGMaker game I finally realized why i felt this was something i've seem many times before, it's impressive how bad they are this shit >I don't know why these kinds of remasters are so popular and why people seem to like them. Mindless pursuit to make old games "new" to consume them.
>>1077951 I'm currently running AI in the background so I'd rather go without the repack today.
hmmmm, The download I found is not 9195 MB... Guess I'm going for the repack.
>>1077947 >I don't know why these kinds of remasters are so popular and why people seem to like them. It's as simple as: <Old games bad, new games good!
I got the tool to inject, but there isn't an easy way to get to the credits as far as I can tell. I'd need a save file that has reached the credits.
>>1077980 Don't most games have a Credits button in the Main Menu?
>>1078037 It does, but you can't click it unless you have beaten the game.
>>1077791 >>1077937 >>1077805 Am I demoralized to be happy it's just using graphical crutches and not outright censoring or changing anything so far?
>>1078090 I wouldn't say demoralized rather it's more like your opinion is extremely low so this enough to make your happy, demoralization is closer to apathy so you can eat shitty easier. Still i will wait for more info to be sure.

>Finish the warrior village before the dragon knights. >Guide says I should have 90 people and a LV 4 castle. >Don't have it, meaning I'm missing one because I'm pretty sure I have 89. >Go to the tablet and check missing names. >Teni Star, that's Kage. But I recruited him, he's on the roof. >Start to panic and looking up save editor in how to trigger stars on the tablet with already recruited companions, don't want to lose my 15 hour save. >Scroll down. There's another star called Teni. That first one is for Pesmerga I get later. >Systematically catalog the missing stars, missed Esmeralda by not giving her the pearl that's been in my inventory for awhile now. There is one line in the guide that says for me to go back for her, that's on me. But in a game that has 108 unique people for your party like Fire Emblem, WHY THE FUCK WOULD YOU HAVE TWO STARS UNDER A UNIQUE NAME?! I thought it was 1 star 1 name but no, the Chikai star also has 2 characters under it. Makes no sense. Also Ronnie Bell, woof. Her portrait has a good look to it.

>>1080518 >Oh god I still don't have that LV4 fortress even going through the Dragon Knights. >I'm missing about 10 people now that I'm skipping over in the guide, when can I got get them. >Did I just sell one of those old books or windows that I just picked up while changing equipment, why is it like this instead of a pack system. >Finally get to the point where I can have a full party again. >Get LV4 fort. >Recruit 4 people that you have to hunt down and would not find without a guide. >Now in the last part of the game with only 8 people left to recruit. I really was worrying I'd brick my save over the last 6 hours. Turns out I was actually making progress.
