Nintendo Direct (Direct DS?) Thread Anonymous 03/26/2025 (Wed) 14:27:11 Id: cea7b1 No. 1082826
This is an interesting situation, apparently Nintendo is having two Nintendo Directs back to back. One tomorrow at 10am EST and another on April 2nd at 9am EST. Figured we should have a single thread for both considering how close they are together. I've seen some rumors about a new Project X Zone 3 with Nintendo characters this time around and Custom Robo game, so I'm hoping it's not bullshit, either way we'll see in due time. What are you hoping to see from the show? THE STREAM IS LIVE Link to the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DXUmjX7DsP8

>rail grinding in mariokart >costume items What?
Oh god damn, there's a lot of characters
Had a feeling they would show off Mario Kart first. It was the first new game teased when Switch 2 revealed after all.
OPEN WORLD MARIO RACER BURNOUT PARADISE: MARIO EDITION
>>1084957 I think it's funny, definitely a wild pick. Some autists are going to complain about it unfortunately. >>1084959 Can't wait to see Daisy's outfits
>open world mario kart oh god
>>1084957 To be fair, the list of characters that haven’t been added is getting kind of short. Might as well make it fun and add a cow.
This is genuinely insane holy shit
The graphics look very pretty.
>>1084966 Yeah, I think it looks great
>>1084968 I know Nintendo wanted to introduce open world to several of their series after BotW, but Mario Kart was never one I'd guess.
But will it be better than Diddy Kong Racing or Wacky Races for the dreamcast?

3D Donkey Kong is back. I was wondering if they'd ever do another non-sidescrolling DK
Verdict? I give it a 5/10. Way too much time on unimportant minutia and ports, nowhere near enough new games shown. The new games did look good, but there were maybe four of them across the entire hour.
Thanks for wasting my time with 50 minutes of my life with useless ports and those explanations faggots.
>Switch has games I want to play >Don't want to give Nintendo ANY money whatsoever because the fact they ripped out Free Online to make it paid offends me on a consumer-friendly level <pirating means no multiplayer for a good deal of those games (Mario Kart for instance)
>>1085192 I think it's closer to a 6/10 myself. There were some good looking games here, but yeah, too much time was focused on ports and upgrades for previous games.

>>1085192 If not for the last ten minutes it would be a solid 3, 5 because of Danky Kang and I Can't Believe It's Not Bloodborne. The showcase was only an hour and still felt like it was padding for time. >>1085192 9/10, I see a lot of potential in the launch titles and stealing the BB sequel from Sony's nose is hilarious. I don't care about the lawnmower sim, but the rest seem great and have a lot of potential to surprise and excel. Donkey Kong in particular seems like the Hulk 3D platformer that never was. Also the upgrade pack seems like a better deal than buying a Switch edition again, I'd wish for free content for old buyers but I'll take what I can get. >>1085200 DLC for old owners, Switch 2 cart owners get it for free as part of the package.

So it's not like Sony's bullshit with Vita & PSP's proprietary memory cards, but MicroSD Express is a new spec I hadn't heard of. For price, it's $59.99 on Amazon for a 256GB MicroSD Express. It says "Up to 650MB/s Write, 210MB/s Sustained Write" so you can clearly see the heat & throttling issues of this storage. I think that's par for the course with a lot of SD cards & USB sticks, they get hot & throttle.

In the past Nintendo didn't even use their own gimmicks in first-party titles. (No touchscreen support for BotW) Second place feature: GameShare. 2-player using 1 game cartridge like Nintendo DS did with DS Download Play. 4K HDR or 1080p 120Hz could be nice, but I just don't have that much faith in the hardware until I see more games running on it. My sole disappointment is the reintroduction of region-locking, meaning I would have to import the Japan-only Switch 2 (although it's less expensive than the global console even when accounting the eventual shipping rates) since pretty much all the stuff I have on the original Switch is from the Japanese Eshop, barring the few former title purchases. However, I did the silly thing use my EU account to play games that I bought from the Japanese account so I guess I'm losing all the saves in the process unfortunately. On the other hand, I suppose the good thing is that Japanese games don't have to worry anymore about making changes for worldwide versions as this reintroduces regional SKUs, which I'm entirely okay with this return.

>>1085424 Well that and the only reason the Xbone failed so hard to begin with was because Sony capitalized on showing customers that the PS4 had superior value. You're not seeing Valve capitalize on the Switch 2's failure by announcing a Steam Deck 2, so I doubt it'll fail as hard as the Xboner.
>>1085424 >The only reason why Switch 2 will do well is because it's running off of goodwill from Switch 1, as well as Nintendrones buying anything with the Nintendo logo on it. The company has absolutely no power over you anymore, whatsoever, no matter what you say or do. They cannot take your account away, thereby stealing your games, simply because you don't worship nonwhites or trannies. They cannot steal your games from you simply because they got tired of hosting a server that cost them $10 a year to run. You are literally a god and they are less than an ant. That's why people argue in favor of physical games. These are not physical games.
>>1085497 Yeah, it's very pointless and I don't even know why it exists. One is better off just buying a digital copy.
I don't understand why there are people confused over this game key card thing. This is what computers did wither their physical games before embracing digital games only. Also, take note on how the next nintendo console will have a webcam and computer mouse functions. It's turning into a computer. Next thing you know there will be a nintendo operating system.
>>1085507 >nintendo operating system. lol imagine that shit
Gonna buy it but not many games for it. 80 dollars for Mario Kart? Nigga please. I don't even want to pay $70 for a game but I want to play DK so I'll probably bite the pillow.
>80 bucks No thanks
>>1085512 What about 10 bux?
(41.17 KB 349x292 Bzzzt downvote.jpg)

>>1085412 I am not paying $80 for a lump of plastic to be able to play a game like this. Emulation will break through this encryption given time and then it'll be useless.
>>1085498 >>1085446 >Even if it is as >>1085432 says, why do this? It makes NO sense. It's a form of DRM (Like how you had to have the PC game disc in the disc drive despite being installed entirely on the computer), and an incentive to have developers release game digitally. Remember that the original Switch significantly scaled it's licensing fees for the game carts with the increasing size of cart. It's why, despite there being Switch carts bigger than Blu-Ray in space, devs were still reducing games to a fraction of their original size, which resulted in shitty textures. >>1085507 >Also, take note on how the next nintendo console will have a webcam and computer mouse functions. It's turning into a computer. Next thing you know there will be a nintendo operating system. So even Nintendo is just embracing their consoles just being a close-system PC.
>>1085517 >switch carts bigger than blu-ray in space Never heard of this. I heard the max size for Switch carts was 32 GB.
>>1085518 And your average single-layer Blu-Ray is 25 GB in space.
>>1085519 >single-layer Who the fuck uses single-layer Blu-Rays?
>>1085517 >Remember that the original Switch significantly scaled it's licensing fees for the game carts with the increasing size of cart. What do you mean? Can you provide a source?
>>1085395 Because people want single player games.
>>1085514 What about no bucks?
>>1085530 https://archive.ph/dtz2n >Another problem with the Switch is that manufacturing costs rise as cartridge capacity increases. In other words, the cost of manufacturing will vary drastically depending on whether you need a 1GB or a 32GB card for your game. Smash Bros. series creator Masahiro Sakurai has mentioned having to compress Super Smash Bros. Ultimate to under 16GB, but even for smaller games, whether it can fit on a 4GB or 8GB cartridge will directly affect how much revenue its developer gets from sales. The developers we talked to mentioned that reducing a game to fit on the target cartridge size was one of the hardest parts of bringing a game to the Switch.
I was wondering how nintendo would fuck things up this generation since it seemed they had it in the bag. Good old fashioned greed.
>>1085535 In my long years of life watching this industry it's always the exact same fucking thing. Game company does well one gen by having generally good practices and games then next gen they think they're untouchable and fuck everything up. It happened with Sony, it happened with Xbox. It's not happened with Nintendo twice.
>>1085427 I hated this decades ago when Valve did it. I bought Half-Life 2 but the full game wasn't on the disc so I had to download it over fucking dial-up. I was so pissed that I paid for the game & it wasn't even complete on the disc.
>>1085536 Problem this time is that the rest of the industry isn't giving much reason to bother with them, so Nintendo basically has free reign to fuck people over because there's no other real competition in town. Soyny is controlled by California with no plans to make a handheld for the Jap audience, and Xbawks is basically dead in the water (and the Japs wouldn't bother with xbawks anyways unless they actually bothered to make a handheld and exclusive games for them).
>>1085534 And they wonder why third-parties hate them? >>1085536 >It's not happened with Nintendo twice. You mean now?
>>1085558 >You mean now? Wii-U and this one were what I was thinking.
>>1085560 What about when they became over-confident with the NES, only for Sega to kick them to the curb, and Nintendo's reponse was to literally resort to government action?
>>1085561 Kind of a mulligan because Nintendo and Sega both started trending down in the 16 bit era. Every Nintendo system sold worse than the last until the Wii. Similar for Sega it's just it killed them eventually.
>>1085439 >>1085432 You telling me there will effectively be NO physical games on Switch 2?

Welp, unless you're a paypig you can't even pre-order the Switch 2. Probably will cut down on scalping, though. Most scalpers are lazy these days and won't go to a launch since they're used to using their bots to camp Amazon. https://archive.ph/P5feo
>450 American fun bucks that's a whole ass PS5/Xbox/SteamDeck. why did over 50% of Americans want tariffs again?
Nintendo Switch 2 will be the best selling console of the 2020s.
>>1085583 >that's a whole ass PS5 It's still a 100 dollars less than a PS5. >Xbox Only a series s. Or as it's called: the series shit. SteamDeck That one, true. >why did over 50% of Americans want tariffs again? This would have happened with or without them. People were already talking about 100$ GTA 6 before Trump even won. But by all means go on using the libfag talking point to defend the corporation. It's extremely funny for the supposed commies.

>>1085544 >Soyny is controlled by California with no plans to make a handheld for the Jap audience, >(and the Japs wouldn't bother with xbawks anyways unless they actually bothered to make a handheld and exclusive games for them) I'm surprised to see clueless gaijins who are still parroting this meme of portable consoles being essential to the Japanese people, when it's never been about the portability itself but the library of games like always. Playstation sucks now because the PS5 is extremely expensive in Japan when you can already have a Switch as a home console and still get 90% of Japanese third-parties/indies in addition to the Nintendo stuff.
>>1085585 Its hilarious to me that people will try to blame this on Trump. Did people forget how Nintendo tried to charge $250 for a fucking 3DS at launch? How Sony tried to charge $600 for a PS3? The Sega Saturn costing $400 back in the fucking 90s? Corporate greed is something that will persist until the end of human civilization. >>1085587 >its about the library, not the portability! <ignore that the handhelds pretty much always outsold the home consoles Nah, you're retarded. The only home console that ever sold more than 20 million there was the PS2. Meanwhile something as bad as the fucking 3DS outsold that. Ever since handheld consoles came into being, they've been strong sellers in Japan, its undeniable. Not to mention that there hasn't been a home console there that's sold over 15 million there in 25 fucking years, dumbass.
>>1085052 this is reason enough to buy a switch 2 now
>>1085579 >unless you're a paypig you can't even pre-order the Switch 2 To be honest, it's a fine move because all of their most invested customers (the ones they really don't want to lose due to scalpers) will probably meet those two criterion. If you're interested in a switch 2, even after all the bullshit, you probably have 50+ hours in Switch games, and if you're a dumb stupid goy who pays for useless shit you've also hit the second criteria of having owned a nintendo online sub for 12 months. But there will be plenty like myself who hit both criteria and are completely disinterested in the bullshit they're peddling. >>1085593 The mouse controls are a really nice touch for Joycons but I can't get over the game upgrade shit and the pricing. The cartridges were a non-issue for me anyway since I'm a NEET with few IRL friends that I can share switch games with.

>>1085371 >>1085461 It's an optional thing that can lead to one of the bad endings if you don't know what you're doing. but it's fun since it's poker using the minor arcana rather than your usual playing cards. It also features the best portrayal of Allister Crowley since Drowned God.
>>1085597 How many chances (I guess articles of clothing in this case) did Helena have in that scene again? I remember it taking a while to lose when I tried to get that ending. Also I thought I remembered Lowry's daughter/niece/I forget being involved in the game with Helena but that might have been some bonus thing or maybe even something from the third game that never got released.
(370.54 KB 720x480 Stephanie crack.png)

it was like 1000 dollars per major article of clothes with 500 for minor articles of clothes like socks (there is a reason clothes could stack). playing against Stephanie Lowry was fun, seeing that upstuck bitch trying so hard to keep her haughty demeanor, only to crack and go full childish.
>>1085597 How old is she supposed to be?
(349.75 KB 720x480 Helena pout.png)

I dunno, I lost the manual
>>1085603 Oh yeah, I remember now. Watching he go from haughty to embarrassed was pretty hot (though losing that match was also hot).
>>1085606 There doesn't seem to be a lot of information you can fine about the game.
>>1085594 >The cartridges were a non-issue for me anyway since I'm a NEET with few IRL friends that I can share switch games with. It's not abotu having friends, it about the resale value. If I buy a game phyiscally, and decide that I don't like it, I can go to a game store to trade in that game for an entirely different game. However if there's content like one-time activations, that destroys the resale value of said content, as used copies become nothing more than collector's items and sealed copies skyrocket in price.
