>What is this? Games are chosen with hopes of bringing new avenues of playing potential to anons with narrow video game perspectives. You can play the game and then use that fact as bragging rights to others! You can use it to broaden your backlog horizons! Or you can forget about it. THIS GAME: Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage! Released November 2, 1999 on PlayStation Published by Sony Computer Entertainment Developed by Insomniac Games Action, behind view, platform, direct control, fantasy, 1-player >Where do I get this? Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage! (PS1): https://myrient.erista.me/files/Redump/Sony%20-%20PlayStation/Spyro%202%20-%20Ripto%27s%20Rage%21%20%28USA%29.zip Spyro Reignited Trilogy (NS): https://archive.org/download/p-s-n-n-1/Spyro%20Reignited%20Trilogy%20%5BBASE%20%2B%20UPD%201.0.1%5DNSP.zip Spyro Reignited Trilogy (PC): https://1337x.to/torrent/3980757/Spyro-Reignited-Trilogy-MULTi14-FitGirl-Repack-Selective-Download-from-20-1-GB/ >How does it play? Like the original Spyro the Dragon, this is a platform-adventure game. Whilst using a portal to travel to the coast, he is enlisted to help a professor defeat Ripto the dinosaur. The game is split into 3 worlds - on each of these Spyro must collect all the gems and then kill a boss. Level layouts are less linear and more expansive than many platform games, with lots of sub-quests - exploration is required. This time around, the fantasy 3D worlds are larger and more complex. Though most of the gameplay elements from the original game have remained, more puzzle elements and bonus levels have been added to this chapter. Mess with this Dragon and Feel the Burn! Things are heatin' up! Spyro, the feisty, fire-breathing dragon is back and he's ready to take on a whole new adventure. Deep, imaginative gameplay with tasks to complete, puzzles to solve, beautiful new worlds to navigate and hidden areas to discover. Cool new moves! Powerflame, supershot, high speed underwater swimming, superfly, superfreeze, hover gliding, headbash, climb and more! Tough challenges and great new vehicles! Play hockey, fire cannnons ride a shark sub, herd strange beasts, go target shooting, and defeat ravenous dinosaurs. More than 30 amazing 3D worlds including action-packed Boss rounds and more than 100 new characters. ABOUT FEATURED GAME AND HOW GAMES ARE FEATURED: Moderators select Featured Games by a moderator's roulette spin, then by this list, non-negotiably so process tampering doesn't derail Featured Games. As a rule, please discuss the game, not this, thank you. 1) A moderator signs his role then roulette spins a die with 4000 sides using the command /roll{1d4000}; 2) He searches this numbered item in the gr.blade.sk spreadsheet; 3) He counts up from that item, including that item, to a console or handheld game whose console or handheld released in any region before 2005; 4) He continues to count if the game relies on modern hardware, as most people won't be able to enjoy it, rendering the thread kind of pointless; 5) He continues if it's too popular. "Too popular" is non-negotiably decided by the moderator, but examples are CoD, FIFA, and GTA; 6) He continues if it cannot be emulated at all, to mitigate virus risks and avoid broken games; 7) He continues if it's always-online, live service, only mobile, only multiplayer, depends on external servers, or requires overly gimmicky controls. 8) He can continue 1 or 2 more games ahead at his discretion, but no further. >>1084241 gets 1498, then rule 3 gets 1499, Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage! Is the Re-Ignited trilogy any good? I know the Crash trilogy is broken since they chose the wrong collision shape for everything and you slide off platforms you actually landed on. I can't play 3D PS1 games without being literally ill.
>>1084272 It's worse than the Crash Trilogy, and they added modern pop culture shit like the floss dance from Fortnite.
>>1084283 That's awful...
>>1084272 >I know the Crash trilogy is broken since they chose the wrong collision shape for everything and you slide off platforms you actually landed on. This is an absolutely minute difference that only matters if you're trying to cheat the bridge levels in Crash 1. The bigger difference is that the jump arc is slightly different, but even that is also quite minor. I've beaten all these games a zillion times, and got all Platinum Relics in the remakes, and I didn't even notice the jump arc thing until I got to Crash 2. And Crash 2 is very easy anyway, so it's not like it's a huge deal. The Platinum Relics are pretty hard, but they weren't in the original. And again, the difference is only noticed at high level play. But since relics weren't in the original, you'd basically have to be a speedrunner to notice hard enough to get really upset about it. I did notice eventually, but not enough to say it's a big deal. That said, I do think the designs are just slightly worse, and the music is just slightly worse. I'd say basically everything about the remakes is just slightly worse. But I like that there are Relics in Crash 1 and 2, and playable Coco. If those things sound appealing to you, then maybe the remakes are worth it. If you don't care about those things, then maybe the originals are the way to go. As for the Spyro remakes, the designs are much more different from the originals than the Crash remakes. Some of them rub me the wrong way, but I don't hate all of them. Sheila looks alright, but I don't like how Elora looks. Many of the dragons in Spyro 1 look pretty weird. I'd prefer a remake that just kept the original designs and just made them more detailed with more polygons, which is closer to what the Crash remakes did. Also, the Spyro remakes don't add anything as meaningful as the Relics or playable Coco in Crash. I think they added Skill Points to Spyro 1, but that's it, and they aren't very thoughtful or interesting Skill Points. Spyro 2 and 3 have no additional content at all, so there's much less reason to ever recommend these versions.
>>1084257 Intresting...
>>1084257 The first time I've seen a game I've actually played featured as GOTM. The Spyro games are really impressive for PS1 games, the levels are way larger than most other platformers. It makes me wonder how they fit all of that into 2MB of RAM. >>1084349 Hello Elon Musk
Juliet was changed into a woman during the remake, I cannot believe the queer erasure.. After playing Spyro 2, I never got the urge to play the third. It's odd because I love Insomniac's later games.
>>1084909 Spyro 3 isn't that far off from 2, except it's longer and better designed overall.
