ITT: Contrarian Autism Anonymous 10/06/2024 (Sun) 15:36:01 No. 5389
It's time to become a cuckchanner again. Everyone here has at least one contrarian take on anything video game related. Now it's time to share them here like a true halfcucker. >DMC3 would be more replayable if it didn't have all the backtracking sections and generally annoying level design moments like the giant fish section/boss. >Action games in general would benefit from taking more design elements from beat 'em ups. >Xenoblade 1 would benefit from having a run system or something to make exploring and finding new fast travel points faster. Also, the Mechonis section is a slog. >NieR would benefit from having more significant changes to its third required playthrough/route.
>Yoshitaka Amano >Kazuma Kaneko >Shinkiro Their art fucking sucks.
>>5389 Merge this with the reddit thread cuckchan is reddit
Contrarianism implies I'm doing it specifically to be contrarian rather than it being my genuine opinion. Either way I don't have many opinions that go against the grain because I've realized I don't give much of a shit anymore and don't play shit I don't think I would like. >>5391 I agree with the Amano take though. Massively overrated. He does good environments though.

>>5389 I'm fine with F2P games, but whenever developers don't really give a shit about the game's balance or simple tasks such as fixing bugs that could ruin everyone's mood, instead they keep on pouring slop skins or faggy cosmetics with the vague hopes of remaining relevant. THAT IS BULLSHIT

>>5389 Street Fighter should've been a free2play franchise since the 4th entry, not because its userbase play the games for a few hours and focus on the new star spangling fighting slop game by the competition, but because I want millions to suffer such masochist experience.
>>5459 Street Fighter has always been expensive as hell. t. guy who used to put quarters into arcade cabinets
There are retards who will lap up anything with cute anime girls. These retards often have shit taste in JRPGs, so I see any list of JRPG recommendations as worthless.
>>5479 Or even better, instead of a JRPG it's a gatcha game that is not worth your time but somehow got a league of useful retards defend it and even producing tons of porn despite its lackluster gameplay. And what's funnier are the feminist dykes demolishing cities because one of the waifus got whored with a summer outfit, are they crying foul over of a fictional character resembling Aryan features? Maybe.
>>5467 The arcade versions of Street Fighter were expensive as hell, but Street Fighter hasn't always been expensive as hell, because Street Fighter wasn't always arcade. Street Fighter has about 40 releases.
3D Zeldas are universally inferior to 2D Zeldas.

>>5389 I'm not that hyped over the new Switch console, considering they're pulling out a new Mario Kart that'll most likely be a port of Tour, also they haven't learned their lesson to make the console sturdy and stable thanks to all windowlickers, or in this case: catridge-licking faggots who have a voice and overshadowed the complains of the first Switch having the plastic quality of a Tiger game.
>>5479 >There are retards who will lap up anything with cute anime girls. These retards often have shit taste in JRPGs, so I see any list of JRPG recommendations as worthless. most /v/ recommendations are worthless it's "i played it young" not good taste

>>7534 Not sure if /v/irgins and rule34 autists share the same braincells, but they definitely go apeshit over the star spangling turds produced by Tencent or South Korea because it contains: <Waifus that made muh peepee hard And blow their welfare on lewds over the cookie cutter token whore.
>>5479 >shit taste in JRPGs, so I see any list of JRPG recommendations as worthless. Any taste for JRPGs is shit taste, so any list of JRPG recommendations is worthless. And the reasons why are other topics relevant to this thread. >turn-based gameplay is inherently inferior to real-time gameplay, largely because it (usually) relies more on RNG This isn't to say it's inherently bad, but it often removes power from the player and instead relegates it to RNG. The JRPG genre does this a whole lot. Instead of leaving it up to your skill to decide if you aim and time your action well enough to hit or dodge, it rolls dice. It's one step closer to just gambling. But asians love their gambling. This is the country that has long running series of pachinko video games. >but most WRPGs also suck Because they, and then later many JRPGs, don't actually have proper action. The action is an afterthought. A lot of them even have real time combat, but then still use RNG to decide if your attack hits. I saw my sword go through the guy. It fucking hit. Even later when this became less common, the movement and combat was still clunky as hell. Kingdom Hearts should be fun to control, but it feels like garbage. A game based on classic cartoons, known for their fluidity, shouldn't be so damn stiff. Games should be fun to control. If you take Mario or whatever and remove the goals and even level design, it's still just fun to control. Most RPGs don't do this. They're dreadful to control because the gameplay is rarely the point of the game. Which means most shouldn't even be games in the first place. >Most RPGs, though admittedly it goes even more for JRPGs, shouldn't even be games Nobody plays Final Fantasy or whatever for the gameplay. They're playing it for the story. As the old saying goes, it's like ordering soup for the spoon. Might as well make it an anime or book or whatever. But if they did, they'd be judged by the harsher standards of those media, and get laughed out of the room. This also happens outside of RPGs of course. Text/Point and Click Adventure games are notorious for it, and it's become a problem is almost every genre over time. This leads to my next point >Hideo Kojima is a hack He only gets any praise because his fans are absolutely uncultured plebians who never heard of movies before. If they had, they'd see that it's not worth sitting through his lame excuse for gameplay just to see the stories that were already told better in other media. I like a game with good story, but "good story" for a game shouldn't mean a story that would get laughed out of the room in another medium, it means a story that couldn't be told effectively or in the same way in another medium. Or at least one that successfully melds with and promotes the gameplay. >"PC gaming" sucked until very recently, and even now isn't as good as people here want to pretend. For most of history, most (not all, but most) of the games anyone wanted to play were exclusively playable on hardware dedicated to games. Even now, after the tide has turned quite significantly, it still sucks because very few good games even come out any more, and most of those are first party Nintendo games. Sure, you can emulate, but now, like in the past, it's much more expensive than buying the hardware, at least unless you wait many years. Yeah, I'm glad that now I can play every game from the 20th century on any regular computer that any person is likely to already own, but I'm also glad that I got to play those games in the '80s and '90s instead of waiting over a decade to eventually just emulate them. People laughed at how much the PS3 cost at launch. Now it's almost 20 years later, and you'd still have to spend that kind of money to buy a computer that can emulate it, and it's not like it's anywhere near fully compatible with all games. Then people try to say that at least you can pirate the games, but so few games worth pirating have come out since the PS3 that I'm unsure if you'd still be saving money. And that leads to my next point. >games peaked in 1998 and dropped off a cliff in 2007 This one isn't even contrarian, it's the standard opinion that everyone has said here for like 15 years. But it triggers one guy on this site really hard, so I'm gonna say it and see if he reacts.
>>5389 Never found the appeal of Hideo Kojimbo: So many hipsters who think they're hotshit because they pressed X button during a cutscene to the point of feeling weird controlling Solid Snake doing any action in Super Smash. Let alone Kojimbo updated his leftwing trends for good goy points, despite worshiping "Prosperous White Europa" Che Guevara. Let alone the spaghetti lore does not equal Metal Gear having a rich and fruitful story, it's fucking retarded. But hey it's a mature game for big boys despite not naming the jew, only the ebil deep state ruled by hwite folks.
>>5389 I don't think Red Dead Redemption 2 would've been mourned if it got shitcanned during its development hell, considering Cuckstar was about to face bankruptcy when they shit out GTA 5 and if you choose the third ending in Story Mode they pretty much emphasize: This will be last thing they'll ever produce. GTAOnline was a fat fucking mistake and GTA6 will be an interactive movie.
