>game shuts down within a fortnight of release I hope this combined with the recent troubles of Bungie makes the industry realize Bungie people have no fucking idea what they're doing anymore. With that said, I want to express my sincere condolences to the team. Even though the game is unappealing live service slop, I know a lot of people probably worked hard on it and I can't possibly imagine what they're feeling right now. Back to schadenfreude I want to thank Sony for handing out this 120,000,000 dollar welfare check. So nice to see such big companies do charity work~
>>1009281 DisappointedRoss.jpeg Not like the game was even worth saving but still would be a nice gesture if they made it open source or let it be played offline lol
>>1009292 >Not like the game was even worth saving but still would be a nice gesture if they made it open source or let it be played offline lol That's highly unlikely, the fact that they were willing to refund the game entirely for everyone who bought it, on any platform was the nice gesture.
>>1009290 >spoiler Making yourself attached to whatever work you do for any corporation is always a bad idea. Put that attachment only into things that you completely and wholly own.
(160.25 KB 610x343 gravity-rush-3_jpg.jpg)

Sony could've funded ten new Gravity Rush games for the same amount they paid for Concord. Not sayin I'd want ten Gravity Rush games but one or two more would've been nice.
Hope you bought your limited edition controllers!
(145.02 KB 348x505 A little excited, sexually.PNG)

Now now, gentlemen. It's possible they might try to relaunch it as a Free to play game, with BidenBTQ+ microtransactions and season passes and shit. Prepare to laugh even harder.

I wonder if the quick shut down is to get people to forget about it before their next financial report in November. Concord released a few weeks after their previous quarterly report on August 7th. >>1009329 Throwing money at wall and hoping something sticks.
>>1009304 It's more than likely finished, but I wouldn't be surprised if they just don't air it.
>>1009337 Isn't the show for Amazon's streaming? No complications about timeslot etc. for streaming, and Amazon is a fool if they didn't get prepaid for this.
YOU CAN'T BLAME DIVERSITY GOY
>>1009348 I honestly don't think that's the problem, look at Deadlock or Overwatch. Concord's problem is that the game was bland, poorly marketed, and extremely unappealing.
>>1009350 I agree, but it didn't help things either. I think what killed it was the 40 dollar price tag since no one would want to pay 40 dollars for this kinda trash.
>make characters look like shit for no reason thinking it will appeal to westerners >trying to yet again shove into an oversaturated market Yep, it's a Sony game.
>Stomp me in the nuts (wha) Stomp me in the nuts
>>1009290 Sure, they had to work on it and will probably get let go sooner than later, but they (hopefully) got paid for the time they already put in. The smart ones would have been looking for a job when they saw the response to the first trailer. >>1009350 Well, even with a diverse cast the other games have actually aesthetically pleasing characters for the most part. >>1009296 There's something I don't understand, how the fuck do you even spend that much money developing a fucking multiplayer-only FPS? There are no enemies, no bosses, no AI, no world to explore, no story, no level design, you just have to make a couple of maps, throw ten players in there, give them guns and let them shoot each other. This should be the cheapest thing in the world to develop.
>>1009374 I'd wager most of the money went towards various consulting firms.

>>1009365 To their credit this is literally the first time I've heard of that character being a tranny, I thought it was just an fucking ugly token DEI niggress. >>1009372 I guess I am speculating a bit, but after 8 years in development - only to be shat out the other end with reams of homosex and tranny pandering, I'd say it's a safe bet there was probably DEI funding involved at more than one point in it's development cycle. Especially since this game was in full swing development while the money was still falling like rain from the fucking sky.
>>1009378 >implying it wasn't the right wing billionaire grifters who oversatured the market in the first place

>>1009378 Also first time I've heard anything about any character that wasn't the robot or the generic ass generic hispanic generic assault rifle guy (and only because the reviewer I watched showcase the game being shit found him the least offensive character)
>>1009367 The Concorde was reliably, if barely, in the black though. It got dropped for mediocre profits and not for making a loss.

>>1009465 For human trafficking.
>>1009465 People always say that but I don't know if they even know what it means.
>>1009469 Money laundering is a way to mask your illegal income through a legal business. You can't just suddenly be rich without explanation, the money has to come from somewhere and if that somewhere is a criminal enterprise that's gonna be a problem for you, so you have to make up some plausible source for that money, like saying "Yes, officer, I have 200 million dollars because Sony paid me for DEI consultancy" when in reality that's the money you got from kidnapping little kids and selling them as sex slaves to jews.
>>1009485 Well yeah, all of the big goy governments do it for their legal crime.
>every person now knows the name of this game >all they need to do if max out marketing budget and release it again as free to play >cattle will all run to install it to see what the meme was about <viral marketing campaign complete, saturated market broken into
>>1009489 You realize that for F2P games to actually make money, people need to care enough to buy microtransactions to begin with, right?
>>1009465 It's that and embezzling as well since nobody really knows how much these entertainmment products should cost.
(2.40 MB 1656x924 v summons Satan.webm)

>>1009350 It just makes it easier to laugh at its failure. But if you think about it, Concord really had absolutely everything going against it: >Live service hero shooter well after the genre peaked in popularity, as well as live service games as a whole >Alternative titles in the genre are largely free, including the one that Concord more or less ripped off of, and one already having a successful beta so far >Increasing backlash against hamfisted DEI bullshit >Shit the bed with its teaser trailer, with the most notable part of it being a fucking burger >Came out in roughly the same timeframe as the Monkey Man FotM game Even if the character designs were actually good, the game likely would have been a niche title at best. Also, >Battleborn lasted longer than Concord >Lawbreakers lasted longer than Concord >Even fucking Radical Heights lasted longer than Concord

Concord is currently #7 on the Amazon Best Sellers for PS5 games. https://archive.is/fJT7b Of course, this doesn't mean people necesarily care about the game. Most likely it is collectors trying to buy up the physical releases while they can before they get pulled from store shelves. The collectors may very well turn a good profit too in a year or two, we'll have to see.

>>1009348 The game unique selling point was the woke shit. That's all the devs did to make it stand out. That was what all these journo faggots were clinging on to. That's what all these people wouldn't shut up about. The game had nothing else going for it. No other unique selling point. They banked on going woke to sell the game, but the moment it did poorly, all of a sudden it was never part of the conversation, it was The Gamers yet again plunking nothing from thin air that totally wasn't something being shoved into peoples faces the whole time. Fucking Schreier yet again being a disingenuous fucking twat.
>>1009613 It's genuinely odd how hard some journos went to bat this game. I don't think it woke or whatever, I think it's because the studio had ex-Bungie people and a surprising amount of journos have really unprofessional relationships with people from that studio. Ever heard of SkillUp? He's a reviewer and news reporter who's made some insane defences of Destiny 2, strangely personal defences. I can't remember the exact video that best highlights this but it's one of the Friends Per Second podcasts (Featuring charity fraudster Jared the Completionist!). The video was long and there's no moment in particular, it's the general way they talk about and treat the game. I saw somebody describe it as trying to defend your mentally ill relative. I assume all of this stems from having parasocial or even actual relationships with the devs.
>>1009613 Schreier is probably peak zogbot.
>>1009616 Honestly, that goes to show how irrelevant social media and the clique of journo, game devs and ""influencers"" are. No matter how much attention it gets on these sites and by these people, no cared enough to actually buy it. As usual, the incestuous rot that plagues the industry and online discourse is nothing but show and barely represents reality.
>>1009451 It also got dropped because the security concerns they ignored for over 20 years would've cost a lot to fix and this time they couldn't just ignore them like they had. Not to mention some of those airframes and engines might've been in need of a replacement.
I'm so glad Concord officially died when it did. I needed something hilarious to distract myself from Paul Harrell death. I wonder how many players Immortals: Muv-Luv Alternative had. It only lasted 6 hours before shutting down (an infinite money bug was found, and "stop or we'll ban you" doesn't really deter anyone whose account is just a few hours old), but with just ~50,000 players at launch I think it easily have more hours played than Concord with only a few thousand players over 14 days. >>1009509 The problem with that is all our estimates for the cost are based on employee count and dev time. Only way to launder with that is either >claim stupidly high levels of budget past that <which would require really efficient washing margins >most of the employees weren't actually doing anything and were actually criminal enterprise agents getting their payment <which falls apart the second anyone starts the slightest investigation
>>1009589 I wonder if will have wound up selling more after being canned then before it. >The collectors may very well turn a good profit too in a year or two, we'll have to see. Nah, it will be an interesting collector piece, but I've seen the US used firearms market enough to know that "rare and crap" is still "crap". Something has to be rare and weird, or be crap and part of a series that has hardcore collectors (the canceled before proper release NCAA College Basketball 2K3 for GameCube is valuable because Nintendo collectors are a thing, and even that extremely rare game isn't actually that valuable given the absurd price some GCN titles can fetch) to be of greater than original price+inflation value. This is especially so for something that was likely printed far in excess of demand (the number of sealed copies of Concord will far exceed the number of people trying to build a full collection of physical PS5 games).
>>1009613 >Fucking Schreier yet again being a disingenuous fucking twat. He's a kike, so being disingenuous is hard coded into his DNA.
>>1009646 What are you implying?
>>1009372 Soyny's retards/executives thought that space shooter was something that people would always want, regardless of content. I can imagine all of those executives being a bunch of old man, always out of touch with reality, still dreaming about the "space rush" from late 60s, and thinking that this is something that "kids find cool", instead of realizing that most people are bored of it already due to how many games about it were already made. And of course, they never look into the leftard cancer infiltrating their company and trying to turn everything into their failed politics.
>>1009708 They probably had similar thoughts about Starfield.
>>1009716 I always thought Starfield was Bethesda responding to The Outer Worlds, as if to try and make a comeback for Obsidian showing them up with Fallout New Vegas, something Bethesda higher ups are still pissy about (especially Todd) if the NCR's treatment during the Fallout show and the general disrespect to west coast lore throughout the Bethesda Fallouts since NV is anything to go by. Would certainly explain some of the bizarre design decisions Starfield did as an attempt to be a more "grounded" and "realistic" take on the space RPG genre.
>>1009567 It's for the 100% achievement thing on consoles. >>1009589 $150 on ebay so far.

>>1009721 Starfield was apparently in concept work for over a decade. It's why it all centers around one retarded idea for a TWIISTT! Emil had once.
>>1009736 That cheap? Damn I might buy myself a copy to put next to my copy of Mercenaries, for collection's sake. At least gearbox cared enough to reference it frequently in future games they developed, unlike Sony will about this trash fire, most likely. >>1009752 Huh, with the way the game is designed and what they put focus on (ships, wide open worlds, etc) many of which targeting things Outer Worlds wasn't good at, You figure that wouldn't be the case. Maybe there was a change in design perspective or something? Just seems like a very strange case to go from Skyrim's DLCs and partial dev of fallout 4 to "space game lmao". Unless by "concept" you mean a rough set of ideas that hadn't been fully realized yet.
>>1009721 >>1009752 Starfield's original concept sounded like it was meant to be an evolution of Daggerfall, but most of those people didn't actually work at Bethesda anymore and the majority of systems they (modern Beth, not Peterson and gang) originally created for Starfield got tossed for ~accessibility~. That's why the game has this fuel system with virtually no use, and why the environments don't really matter. On that note it's strange how bad Starfield's procgen is, I always view Doom's OBLIGE and OBSIDIAN projects as the watermark for complex procgen. What's Starfield's like? Well, the generate terrain is disjointed little chucks, and that's it. The dungeons are all pre-made locations copypasted through the universe, and the few settlements are all sparsely placed in story locations. It's more basic than Daggerfall, a game from almost 30 years ago. There the terrain and settlements were continuous, the main dungeons were handcrafted while the rest of the world was random. If you contrast it against a game from 15 years ago like Minecraft, it's woefully incompetent; the landscape is barren, empty, lifeness, and uninteresting. It has no dynamics to it at all, it looks like a basic noise map with some models loaded over it. Procgen is not some new arcane technology, it was implemented in some of the earliest video games, it's something that many small indie devs get right. I can't explain why it was so poorly done here.
https://archive.ph/KIsY2 PushSquare (an explicitly PS focused news site) is explicitly calling Hermen Hulst out as responsible for this and Fairplays (I will not be surprised if that thing gets canned and written off ala WB after this) as well as other disasters and needing to resign. When you lose this kind of site, you've fucked up.
>>1009758 >Huh, with the way the game is designed and what they put focus on (ships, wide open worlds, etc) many of which targeting things Outer Worlds wasn't good at, You figure that wouldn't be the case. Maybe there was a change in design perspective or something? Just seems like a very strange case to go from Skyrim's DLCs and partial dev of fallout 4 to "space game lmao". Unless by "concept" you mean a rough set of ideas that hadn't been fully realized yet. I would put down $100 here and now that their entire plan, despite what they say, was literally just "No Man's Skyrim" on whatever version of gamebryo they've managed to keep wheezing along for this long, which is what people had been calling it for years before it came out. A bunch of people have covered this, but Bethesda is a big game studio that acts like a small game studio and this approach gets more and more untenable the bigger they get - they have a lasssez-faire attitude towards development and they refuse to either overhaul their ancient game engine or move to something else and Shartfield is the result. The fact that the environments are considerably improved by a mod that modifies worldgen values in the .ini for every new place you set down is somewhere between pathetic and sad, really. They're still boring and lifeless but the fact that that such a tiny change to the way things work can make such a significant difference really pulls back the curtain a bit. >I can't explain why it was so poorly done here. First, because their engine is a rickety piece of shit that's being kept alive by spit and bailing wire and the game was optimized for consoles. Second, because there was no centralization and their design process is a mess. Like I said, they basically have small groups of people working on whatever they're working on (interiors, guns, terrain, etc.) and then they mash it all together until it fits.
>>1009790 Holy shit a PlayStation fanboy site is calling them out.

>>1009996 https://archive.fo/UIiZj Sony Doesn’t Have Enough Original IP, Says Company Leadership What a mystery. Zero correlation with chasing out the tiddy games as well as Japan Studio to please the circumcised, I'm sure.
The nigger counter idea is great. Shills are already desperate to shut it down. In the same way as the catalog of Sweet Baby-like companies was made, it is a good idea to catalog games with pro-nigger propaganda, to spread everywhere, so normalfags can easily check the list to boycott those games.

>>1010183 And Demon's Souls and Bloodborne are useless to them without Miyazaki and Fromsoft, outside of easter eggs. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH GET FUCKED YOU STUPID CALINIGGERS!
>>1010183 That was the case since ever since the Soystation 3. Remember their Smash Bros clone? Every character announced for it was met with either a "who?" or a "meh" reaction, due to the IPs held by soyny being almost all forgetable or utterly shit that nobody cares about. Their very best IPs from Wild Arms, Legend of Dragoon, Legend of Legaia, and the Japan Studio games were abandoned by the company, so nothing good remained.
>>1010183 Sony has plenty of original IP. They still own Killzone don't they? They just need to actually use it. Alternatively start using that money on multiple new projects instead of trying to make 1 giant cluster fuck.
>>1010186 >>1010190 What's wryly ironic is that Sony had the perfect opportunity to get ahead of its rivals with the "play AAA games on handhelds" segment, then it sabotaged its own platform that they had to shutter because developers wouldn't stop releasing titles on it, because "Japan bad." Now the Westerners they're in bed with are only bringing them closer to the day they will have to shut their doors, their only offering a knockoff Apple TV unit, while everybody else can't wait to release their take on a handheld every week.
>>1010190 The roster was absolutely shit by design, not necessity. They shoved in random third party characters (Big Daddy from Bioshock, Isaac from Deadspace) and trash that was considered trash even then (Heavenly Input Lag) instead of their classic IPs. Wild Arms was totally ignored despite unique gunmage stuff, Nevermind the gameplay was shit to a degree you have to ask how it made it past prototyping. "Do nothing to your opponent till your supermove is usable and only that can score" is such a stupid idea I have to wonder if it was forced on the developer as a fetter to ensure the thing failed. Who ever thought that would be fun? >>1010183 Putting aside how shitty it would be to see an IP be dormant 17 years to be slapped onto a totally different genre, Wild Arms actually would be a much more interesting premise for a hero shooter than "super diverse guardians of the galaxy ripoff where everyone kills each other despite being a crew on the same ship" >it's a western but all the guns are magical powered magic guns and don't have to work like real guns at all >set on a dying world filled with ancient ruins which drifters seek to plunder >teams of drifters will naturally try to beat up their rivals to cut them out of the prize >everyone has bunch of Tools (gadgets) that let them move around or do support stuff
>>1010183 >Sony Doesn’t Have Enough Original IP The fuck are these people smoking?!? Throw a dart at a board with every genre listed, and Sony has done at least five games in that genre. You want music? Vib-Ribbon, PaRappa, Mad Maestro, Beats, and Sound Shapes. You want sports? The entire 989 brand, the entire Hot Shots brand, 2 Xtreme, MLB The Show, and Gretzky NHL. You want fucking shooter? Killzone, Syphon Filter, SOCOM, Freedom Wars, and Resistance.
>>1010211 >Freedom Wars >shooter This is like the 4th or 5th time I see someone try to say Freedom Wars is a completely unrelated genre to what it was, which is baffling because of how hard Sony pushed that shit as a direct competitor to Monster Hunter.
>>>1010211 >Vib-Ribbon, Including spinoffs and excluding re-releases, last seen in 2004. >PaRappa, 2001. >Mad Maestro, 2002. >Beats, 2007. >and Sound Shapes. 2013. As an addendum: most of those music "games" were basically flash-tier and little more than interactive widgets. >You want sports? No, I'm white. >You want fucking shooter? Killzone, 2013. >Syphon Filter, 2007. >SOCOM, 2011. >Freedom Wars, 2014, mobileshit at the end of the Vita's lifespan and also not really a shooter. >and Resistance. 2012. The newest game in ANY of those franchises released 10 years ago; for all intents and purposes they're dead and never coming back. Sony has always been dogshit for original IPs and has only survived this long because between when the SNES died and the Switch was released buying Sony consoles was the only way to get your hands on most Japanese games not made by Nintendo - including virtually 100% of the weebtrash.
>>1010255 But the point is they own those IPs and could bring them back at any time. For many years I'd have killed for new Jak & Daxter or Ratchet & Clank or Sly Cooper. Oh wait I guess they're still sort of doing Ratchet, but fuck that shit coming from new Sony. The problem isn't lack of IPs, though, it's lack of talent. Or rather, lack of management that doesn't purposely sabotage everything.
(11.83 KB 480x360 moto.jpg)

>>1010255 I just want a Jet Moto game in VR where I can physically reach out and engage a mag tether to make hairpin turns at ludicrous speeds. Is that too much to ask?
>nobody mentions Spyro RIP.
>>1010267 We don't want our sweet dragon boy to be violated by the baleful touch of CaliSony.
>>1010267 Sony doesn't own Spyro, Activision does, and they've already raped him to death on at least four separate occasions.
>>1010211 >Parappa and Lammy >Have an actual diverse voice cast Are they even available at this point? >Syphon Filter Aren't the chances of this zero because Days Gone wasn't woke enough for Sony?
>>1010291 I heard Parappa went to jail for fraud or something. I'm sure he's out now. I also remember he became a bit of a lolcow because of fighting with some fans who hired him to do a voice for a PS All Stars fan animation, and also because for a while he kept "confirming" that Sega hired him to do more Knuckles raps, which just turned out to be full bullshit every time. But he was Parappa and Knuckles, so he can do whatever. I do still want to see him do more Parappa and Knuckles raps.
>>1010259 >But the point is they own those IPs and could bring them back at any time. And they're garbage. The sports games industry is already saturated, music games are dead and their shooters have always been mediocre at best. None of the titles you mentioned are WORTH resurrecting. >The problem isn't lack of IPs, though, it's lack of talent. That also contributes, yeah. >Or rather, lack of management that doesn't purposely sabotage everything. That's a factor as well. However, I'd say that their raw material is also crap and more than that their exclusives have been increasingly pathetic. PS3 had a few big-ish and/or interesting exclusives (way less than 360 or Wii) while the PS4 had Bloodborne and, uh.... The Order: 1886 Seconds? A couple of Yakuza games? Assorted weebtrash like IM@S? Dad of War? Meanwhile the PS5 has almost nothing. Shit on the Switch all you want for being "le bing-bing machine" but I don't see Kirby or Mario or Zelda games on Steam a few months after they drop on the Switch.
>>1010295 >music games are dead This isn't a statement about their quality. Your other statements are subjective (though I agree), but you didn't even make a relevant statement about this genre. All you said was that they're dead, which is already implied by saying they could bring them back. In fact, it's a prerequisite condition. List of IPs I'm pretty sure are owned by Sony, and which I enjoyed in the past. >Jumping Flash >Twisted Metal >Jet Moto >Parappa the Rapper/Um Jammer Lammy >Ape Escape >Jak & Daxter >Ratchet & Clank >Sly Cooper >Gravity Rush >Tearaway I heard Sony actually owns Q*Bert, through some series of acquisitions. Absolute classic. They should be trying to do something with that. Then again, Namco can't even be assed to do Pac-Man properly anymore. I would say I want these series back, but I've learned my lesson with Crash Bandicoot 4. Now I'm glad everything I love is too forgotten to come back. Except Ratchet. They're still ruining that. But at least the last PS3 game and the PS4 game felt like endings, so it's easier to ignore the PS5 one.
>>1010297 >This isn't a statement about their quality. Your other statements are subjective (though I agree), but you didn't even make a relevant statement about this genre. All you said was that they're dead, which is already implied by saying they could bring them back. In fact, it's a prerequisite condition. Dead means worm food, not waiting for the kiss of life.
>>1010185 For additional anti-semitic 4D chess, would it make sense to label such a list as "Games that support Black Pride" instead of "Games with nigger propaganda"? That way the kikes would make themselves look like hwite racysts if they shut it down.
>>1010155 >No amount of political pandering is going to save a bad or mediocre game. Yeah. You even have an example of it cutting both ways in case they try to play victim: remember Hatred? How it rode its wave of infamy for getting banned for retarded reasons and tried to associate with Gamergate only for it to totally forgettable outside of its opening cutscene/trailer? Or all those failed Kikestarter comicsgate idiots? >>1010141 My guess is they're banking on corp execs being spineless cowards: terrorize them with the threat of bad twatter PR in order to keep them from acknowledging (aided along by their infiltrators in Human Resources/middle man positions to filter what the dumb boomers hear alongside Blackrock bribery). All they have to do is make the retards in charge think they have more to lose by not listening to the lefist apparatus than doing market research on the actual audience - and being execs, they're already used to being out of touch and taking the path of least resistance (case in point, Embracer Group giving Crystal Dynamics a THIRD chance with Lara Croft than spend the effort looking for new guys). >>1010211 You think the reason all these franchises end up on ice for so long is some retarded rights bullshit? I remember hearing once that Sega can't port the Sonic Advance trilogy to the west (despite adding it to Jap Nintendo E-Shop) because THQ/Infogrammes had the publishing rights and have been dead for decades.
>>1010328 >comicsgate All they did was make cringe capeshit with the only plus that it wasn't sjw but still had pretty terrible art and writing.
>So many sad sack of shit game journos and libshit SJW retards are crying about the game failing so hard >Circlejerk of preddit threads, Youtoob videos, twatter threads with thousands of upboats and likes >All of it didn't translate to sales Top fucking wew.
>>1010328 >You even have an example of it cutting both ways At the end of the day people want a quality product. If you can't deliver it, then they are going to look elsewhere.
>>1010328 >You think the reason all these franchises end up on ice for so long is some retarded rights bullshit? Some, but I think most are just on ice because the last game was shit and sold like shit. Generally due to fuckery of the 7th gen of dumbing shit down/making stupid spinoffs nobody asked for to get a wider audience/appeal to CoDdlers/handing to unrelated team.
>>1010308 Maybe yes. Maybe not. It can make leftards support those games. But it is worth trying. add to that: "games that support BLM" as well. Anyone normal will understand that those are games that support nigger terrorists, while the mentally ill/leftists will be caught in the crossfire of trying to shut it down and dealing with angry shitskins.
>>1010349 You're missing the point. Comicsgate opened the door for more people to make comics that are more independent. What were previously called "indie" comics were still very corporate and controlled. Now it's much easier for some random guy to make a comic literally by himself, from conceptualization to distribution. Still hard, but doable in a way it never really was before. Don't like what the first few guys did with it? Fine. Go make your own. That's not a typical "make your own x" non-retort. I'm saying that now it's actually much more feasible to actually make your own. That's an excellent development.
>>1010392 Wasn't there a crowdfunding clique in comicsgate that made it harder to do just that if you weren't in line with them?
>>1010396 What the fuck are you babbling about? Are you just making shit up?
>>1010397 Doubt it. I don't know anything about comicsgate or comics in general but even I've heard people on podcasts talk about e-celebs in those circles gatekeeping anyone that doesn't fall in line with their retarded autism.
>>1010398 You're definitely making shit up. Begone shill.
>>1010400 Just so we're clear, "comicsgate" is the same shit that eric july is involved with, yes?
>>1010406 No, he's considered separate from them, but they did attack him for having his own shit as a result. The fag replying to you is basically revealing what kind of autist supports comicsgate.
>>1010412 Oh okay, well I just know that monkey and his followers are turbo lolcows.
>>1010406 >>1010412 Weren't they all involved with some guy named Zack, the guy that did cyberfrog, and that lawyer with the Chris-chan medallion that got arrested for being cooked up and putting his kids in jeopardy? I remember Raging Golden Eagle used to stream with some of those guys and, then had to pull back because much of them went mask-off and came out as anti-anime / anti-manga shills. And then there was some kind of drama with that Doom cock guy.. I don't really remember what that was about but that might have been more "fandome menace" drama but I see it as basically the same group as comics gate.
>>1010416 Everyone even remotely connected to Comicsgate (for, against or neutral) turned out to be lolcows. Makes sense I guess, as you have to be some level of retarded and autistic to still care about comic books in any shape or fashion.
>>1010417 >and that lawyer with the Chris-chan medallion that got arrested for being cooked up and putting his kids in jeopardy? He never put his kids in jeopardy. What actually happened was he was some "christian" conservative that was actually a big swinger behind the scenes, and when swinging with some other e-celeb and his wife he basically ended up stealing the dudes wife from him. So the e-celeb that got literally cuckolded called the police on the lawyer under false pretenses which is going to get the entire case thrown out. Doubly so because being their star witness (the cuckold), he was just arrested for revenge porn. It would be funny to have a lolcow board that wouldn't get instantly infested with kiwifarms alog spergs, but that is impossible.
>>1010421 The only "evidence" that I recall that he was negligent was when he was investigated by child services in the past. Except people tend to leave out the conclusion of the investigation which was that they found nothing and it was dismissed. It's possible he had drugs and guns in the open all over his house, but I have my doubts. Regardless it's extremely unlikely he gets convicted of anything because the warrant was illegitimate.

>>1010392 American comics finally getting over the Hays Code and CCA. As a /co/tard this was minorly already the case with webcomics, but given how hard sociopathic media and Gulag fucked over the SA goons with their pozzing the nail in the coffin, I wager they don't count.
>>1010422 What are you talking about? The cops literally went inside his house after his church reported him for neglect because his kids were literally going hungry and poorly clothed despite his wealth (and that was after he refused to listen to their previous warnings and concern about his life's direction). Plus he and his wife were clearly doing drugs, regardless.
>>1010412 You think im an autist for questioning you? How about you post some actual proof instead of spouting bullshit.
>>1010392 This guy is right, on Shitter there's like loads more people shilling their own comics. Stories are a lot of misses and a few hits but the sheer amount of actually talented artists shunned by major studios is insane. If Western Comics catered more to even 10% of them they could honestly compete with Manga.
>>1010425 >The cops literally went inside his house after his church reported him for neglect because his kids were literally going hungry and poorly clothed You're literally referencing the instance where the conclusion to the investigation was that there was zero child neglect discovered. >(and that was after he refused to listen to their previous warnings and concern about his life's direction). None of their business. >Plus he and his wife were clearly doing drugs, regardless. And? There is no reason glowniggers should be involved in whether or not I decide to do coke in my home.

>>1010430 Speaking of manga, the only thing I found remotely interesting in all of comics gate was Kamen America. (Mostly because it reminded me of some of the cute independent weeb comics from the mid 90s and early 2000s) those were much more comfy times. Rebel seemed like an interesting concept, but the Creator didn't seem to give a crap after initial funding. (Don't know if it's true that he was running a scam). And I tried to give cyber frog a chance, but it just seemed like a weird derivative Ninja turtles story. Just without the Ninja turtles.

A liberal therefore should have no problem with 'racists' or 'sexists' or whatever so long as they don't infringe on his liberty.

>>1010398 They can't do much to gatekeep. That's what's good about it. All the can do is talk about you on their Youtube channels. Who gives a shit? If anything, for someone actually that indie, all that would do is get your name out there. Some do go on each other's podcasts and have some crosspromotion going on, and maybe if you aren't their friend they don't invite you on. That's not gatekeeping in the same way that literally firing and blacklisting you for politics is. The situation is immeasurably better now. >>1010406 There does seem to be interpersonal drama between some of these people, though I can't be bothered to learn any specifics. I know some try to say others aren't comicsgate, and all that. But it doesn't matter. They can say what they want. Comicsgate is anyone who calls out the mainstream industry on their bullshit. They don't have to agree with each other on anything other than the mainstream industry being bullshit. I think they're dumb for fighting with each other, but from a customer's perspective, I don't need to care. >>1010417 "Zack" is a nickname of Richard C. Meyer, AKA Diversity & Comics, which was the original name of his Youtube channel, made to call out SJW Marvel, which is basically what got Comicsgate going. Well, that was the first step, then it really ramped up when he self-published a comic after being blacklisted even from tiny publishers. And then everyone realized they could do what he did and cut out the publishers entirely, which is excellent. He got around the gate and cut down on gatekeeping significantly. The Cyberfrog guy is Ethan van Sciver, a big name artist who used to work at Marvel and DC until he got blacklisted for being Republican. The lawyer is Nick Rekeita. He's only related in that he's also right-leaning and on Youtube, and he covered Zack's court case when he sued big name writer Mark Waid for Tortious Interference after Waid threatened to use his connections to destroy micro-publisher Antarctic Press if they didn't cancel their contract with him. Unfortunately for us, the case was settled out of court. I think Waid had to apologize, and we don't know the rest of the details. Some people are upset about that because they wanted to see Waid actually lose in front of everybody, and a settlement, even if maybe favorable for Zack, isn't what they wanted. Rekeita is also apparently back and got his kids back and all that, and now fighting it out in court. He's denying everything, of course. I did watch some streams of his back in the day, but that was well before this saga. I heard his big time fans didn't care about the coke, but they did care that he and his wife apparently went to some Swingers Island and he friended a professional Bull on Linkedin or something. Again, I'm no expert though. But that sounded funny, so I'll believe it. >and came out as anti-anime / anti-manga shills. What they are is autists. It's not shilling, they have nothing to gain by saying they don't like manga. It's just not what they're probably into. Assuming you're right. I never heard this stuff, but I would fully expect Van Sciver and Meyer to be massively autistic for Marvel and DC, and have much less interest in manga. Van Sciver had to become mega autistic for Marvel and DC on account of being one of their biggest artists for years. And Meyer is just a legitimate autist, despite somehow also being a Marine. He's autistic for the military and for '80s/'90s Marvel comics. And he has really shitty taste in anything that isn't comics. And some people would say he has shitty taste in comics, too, but there's no accounting for taste. >>1010419 >you have to be some level of retarded and autistic to still care about comic books in any shape or fashion. This. And of course I'm including myself in that. >>1010600 Like who? I'm gonna need quotes here. Like I admit I got clickbaited by a video saying this about Zack recently. It had been years since I clicked or read anything to do with comicsgate, so I went and checked the video they were saying made Zack "full SJW." Basically he was saying the guys who do exactly what he does but about movies instead of comics are losers. A very stupid and hypocritical opinion, but not "full SJW." when actual SJWs came after those same guys that he doesn't like, he still said the SJWs were wrong. He just has fucking shitty taste in movies and TV. He's autistic enough for comics to recognize when the series he likes are being ruined, but doesn't care about Star Wars or whatever enough to recognize the same thing there. That and he's legitimately autistic. So idiot? Sure. SJW? No.
>>1010683 That's ancaps.
>>1010430 >Stories are a lot of misses and a few hits but the sheer amount of actually talented artists shunned by major studios is insane. Isn't it because current comics artists are the types to work for peanuts because with their incompetence they can't afford to raise their fare, and thus price out anyone who knows what they're doing (because a corp isn't gonna pay for quality when they can get a monkey to do it for cheap) similar to how leftists maintain their stranglehold on anime/vidya translation?

I was digging through my old pictures and found this gem. Still relevant more than decade later.
>>1010850 Yes, that's a factor. Like a few years ago Marvel claimed they had their most profitable year ever, despite the fact that sales were way, way down. Evidently they cut expenses pretty drastically, and cutting artists' rates would be a very significant way to do that. Also, I wouldn't put it past them to be counting Marvel Studios profits or something, and then act like they were talking about the comics. But I'm pretty sure the comics and film divisions are completely separate subsidiaries of Disney at this point. >>1010855 As I said, you don't have to like people who call themselves CG, indeed, I've heard some people tried to claim the term and argue others weren't it. But those people are dumb. If you point out the bullshit in the industry, that's it, no matter what some people say. It's not a group, it's an idea, and the idea is just that the mainstream industry is corrupt as hell.
