/40k/ Thread Anonymous 12/06/2024 (Fri) 02:07:04 Id: 557b26 No. 1047230
Discuss Warhammer 40k games and lore. Previous thread >>1033135
>>1047230 Got RT while on sale and was wondering if the system is based off an existing one?
>>1047238 Owlcat used the Warhammer 40k roleplaying system which is a d10 based system.
>>1047242 Sooooo wrath and glory or FFG?
>>1047243 FFG's Rogue Trader variant of the system.
Is votann still a strong army? I haven't followed balance news since this time last year.
>>1047253 I'm unsure as I've not checked myself.
(413.57 KB 240x240 Nova bored.gif)

>Waiting for the 1.3 patch.
>>1047167 ah, good to know, sorry
Who is your all-time favorite Inquisitor, and why is he Castus Grendel?
>>1047313 >Grendel Grendel was just an acolyte (and officially mentioned in the Dark Heresy sourcebook he was being investigated for suspected chaos collusion involving the intervention of a certain secret Khornate Sister of Battle)
(1.06 MB 1829x1612 Erebus0001.jpg)

How the fuck did Erebus hide his Chaos power level from everybody for so long? Even the Emperor? Is he just so evil that good beings just can't sense him?
>>1047316 Nobody knew what the warp was besides maybe 2 other primarchs and a few close to the emperor, his demon summoning stuff happened mostly where there were no psykers to notice, and the emperor wasn't omniscient or else he would have known about horus. Even 10k years later it's hard to spot someone possessed without either a psyker or visible deformities.
(185.96 KB 767x1251 Kharn-bloodied.jpg)

>>1047316 GOD I FUCKING HATE EREBUS
>>1047316 When a man has greek alphabet as a fucking tattoo on his face you know he's some tough psycho. >>1047322 Some things better not be reuploaded.
>>1047316 He wanted to surprise big daddy.
>>1047251 Dark Heresy was fun.
>>1047382 Wait till your heresy gets "yellower than black".
>>1047316 The Horus Heresy was a fucking mistake, over explaining and making it up as they go, and character assassinating the Emperor and going all "LOL IN UNIVERSE PROPAGANDA!"
>>1047384 >The Horus Heresy was a fucking mistake Look at the state of the Imperium after it happened.
>>1047384 I wouldnt call it a "mistake" but rather an "unfortunate accident". Let me explain! >It was only supposed to be a few books, but got super popular and ended up massive and convoluted >Because of this the main star (Horus) suffered the worst. His character depiction is all over the place. Charismatic good guy -> asshole -> clueless good guy -> victim ->meat puppet -> "ackhyully" not a meat puppet -> wayward son who solos Sanguinius and Big E, but at the end let himself unalived (as a final fuck you to chaos) >Authors have a (well know) unspoken rule: Dont touch others OC characters. WHICH IS FUCKING STUPID!!!! Specially when events are super close to eachother. This leads to many "and wtf Giorno did during Part 6" type of situation. >Also author autism: Not consulting on main characters. See Fulgrim beautiful charcter arc getting destroyed by a short novel where turns out the laer demon were banished and Fulgrim actually not body hijacked. >GW milking the living shit from the event, making the whole thing unapproachable I going to post a reddit graph just to prove how fucking stupid and insane the whole thing is! (Dont scream niggers! Be glad someone was enough autist to make this graph!) A contained more focused Heresy series would be good. But just like Disney GW didnt planned jack shit. Yes its a mess, but it is a beautiful one.
>>1047251 An extremely modified version of the system. I wish they'd stuck closer to the source material. They overcomplicated it.
>>1047401 I thought it was faithful to a degree?
>>1047470 They had to modify it for a video game's use.
>>1047316 AFAIK Erebus wasn't a psyker, just that later on in the Heresy, he learned how to use Chaos artifacts and Chaos rituals. These aren't detectable like psyker abilities are. >>1047391 This chart is missing a lot, as well. Not to mention the additional Siege of Terra books which came out later.
>>1047253 Who cares about the meta balance? Collect and play what you think is cool. Tourneyfags are gay. That being said the general consensus is that 10th edition is pretty shit all around, especially for neglected armies like Votann.
>>1047667 10th edition was another soft reset like 8th edition was, just it got dumbed down even more. Especially when it comes to actual customization for your minis. They're really pushing the "only whats in the box" rule to discourage kitbashing or any creativity people could exhibit. Combi weapons, which for years was a straightforward "Plasma/melta/flamer strapped to a bolter" now is just one generic anti-infantry weapon. Chaos got it the worst, with no dual lightning claws for more than one chaos terminator, and only a max of two combi weapons in a squad because that's what's in the box. You'd be better off playing Horus Heresy or any older edition. Hell, even Age of Shitmar is probably better at this point.
>>1047391 for me it was the Erda shitstorm, it was funny to watch from afar
>>1047230 Ah nice, a new thread. Here's a source of pride and jealousy of our franchise, from raycevik
(134.42 KB 735x651 pic unrelated.jpeg)

>>1047691 I personally think Erda was a missed opportunity, but the majority of 40k fans would skin me for this opinion. >>1047704 >lets cater to the minorities and tell the majority to fuck off >the minorities who notoriusly struggle with finances >get surprised when you dont make money because your trans fans are dead or burning money on charlatan "doctors" >see franchise aimed to rich autists and the majority >see company and fandom shitting out content for the money spending majority >get surprised how they have more lore and toys than you The left not just cant meme, but absolute abysmal with math. >>1047669 >tourneyfags are gay Man, the problem is deeper than that. You dont need to be a turbo autist to have problem with 10th. Some factions (im looking at you sisters) so fucking busted it just not fun to play against. You want a chill and relaxed gameplay with your old friends, but the game is so unbalanced its ruins the fun. Of course you could ban certain factions, but are you really going to tell your pal that the expensive figurines he bought, painted and loved are not welcome in your house because their rule set is broken? I dont think so. As >>1047669 pointed out most of the people play by the old rules, which is 4th for old fags and 8th-9th for the newcomers.
>>1047669 >>1047709 Wow it's really worse than I thought. The last I actually played a game was 8th to be honest, I've just been painting minis since then.
>>1047709 missed opportunity for what? Making the emperor look bad?
>>1047725 >She can solo 4 different chaos greater demon, You would think someone this powerful (few steps below Malcador in scales) would be more in the focus of the story/lore. >Fucks up the primarchs and Big E's main plan You would think she would be on the focus after this big fuck up, BUT 99% of the cast just ignors her. >Has a (presuambly) tight backstory with pre-empire Big E. Atleast use her to show how metal was the Emperor during the unification wars! Yoi know. The time when he was the fucking underdog on a fucked up Earth! I bet anyone in this board can make a better and more involved lore to her than the hacks at BL. >Making the emperor look bad? Like Jimmy Space needs anyone to make him look bad

>>1047709 >>1047704 Not just that, EA never licenses its property to anyone else. Other than to make Mass Effect mobile games. They have kept their golden goose hidden to release one mediocre rpg every 7 years and wonder why their IPs aren't making money. EA jew execs don't even know how valuable mass effect franchise would be if it was made into a legit sci-fi epic franchise with shooters, RTS, isometric rpg, space explorer sim, or even just Visual Novels to keep the tumbler fan fictions rolling. Meanwhile GW hands over licenses to bosnian ex-prison members to shit out a Gothic Armada over the weekend. Guess who's fanbase is alive and thriving?
>>1047704 Watching Leafs seethe is always entertaining.
>>1047734 Anon they did the same with fucking C&C
>>1047729 jimbo space is humanity's best hope. At this point I think the author (who loves neopronoms) just wanted to trigger "chuds" or something
>>1047734 Mass Effect is pretty dead after the 3rd game and then 40k had licenced one of the best CRPGs to come out in years.
Here to report that Murder waifu can become your official waifu who'll give you children if you fix her.
>>1048306 >tfw Chaos route and I plan on thoroughly breaking her
>>1047734 I think you're underestimateing the following that 40k had from the outset.
>>1047251 Um, I don't think so. My rpg group still plays that and its pretty different.

>>1048306 Only real choice for an Emprah fearing Rogue Trader, since the other options are a heretic, and abhuman, and a xenos (Not that there's anything wrong with the last two)
>>1048441 It's based off it not a 1 to 1 of it.
>>1048392 You monster.
Out of all the people to grab the W40K license, how come nobody else expressed interest in making something similar to Inquisitor Martyr once more. Heck, why hasn't Joe Mad and company not taken the license up for a spin given how much his style could work with an action game based on the series? Heck, I'd take a pseudo-DMC tryhard katana brandishing Tau game at this point. >>1047704 >Here's a source of pride and jealousy of our franchise, from raycevik Good. Fuck him. >>1047734 That would require Wilson and the other fuckwits at the top to aknowledge that things other than Sportsball.exe and Star Wahs make money amongst the public and maximizing profit is all about the end result not how many extra 0s you need this month to cover your retarded expenses on what is essentially a broken tech demo for the spaghetti code of a failing engine that hasn't been updated in 15 years.
>>1048725 >Joe Mad He went off the deep end with TDS and the sjw mindvirus.
>>1048726 Wait, really? Damn shame to hear about that, really enjoyed his Darksiders and Battle Chasers games.
>>1048728 I still really like the Darksiders games but he like a lot of artists really fucking lost it.
Amazons Secret Level show has a 40k. It follows Titus...'s black squadmate as they drag a priest in a box to go combat a cult of Tzeentch. It has the animator behind Astartes on it otherwise it's really dark. There are other episodes like Unreal Tournament but I don't recommend watching it. Plus it's Amazon, they push a black character whenever they can. https://files.catbox.moe/xwodr6.mp4

>>1048828 It's a great Patch.
RT 40k after playing the fit girls version for 5 hours I immediately bought it and the dlc. Owlcat made such a good game that I decided to reward them with a legitimate purchase.
>>1048813 What could a soul like that be capable of? Dislike that they shoved yet another Salamander in Ultramarine armor but whatever, I'll let it slide since the animation was superb and he kept his helmet on

>>1050398 I don't know her either.
>>1048813 >Ultramarine with chains around his arm >that style was only held by the World Eaters and certain Imperial Fists who later became the Black Templars >and the ONLY reason why they did it was to wrap the chains around both their forearm and the hilt of their melee weapon so it would always be within reach >chainsword-wielding chain boy doesn't even do that For fuck's sake.

>>1050405 Old /tg/ meme, annoying fucking chaos cultist hwo taks leik dis al uf de taim. Usually accompanied by a perpetually annoyed chaos marine named Dranon. Always getting into all sorts of hijinks. Dranon has if I remember correctly killed chaos-chan multiple times but she always comes back because the gods are massive dicks.
>>1050412 >but she always comes back because the gods are massive dicks. Yeah in retrospect she might be the first example of a perpetual and it comes from the fandom.
(209.83 KB 500x500 Angry Beakie.gif)

>>1050412 >chaos-chan CULTIST-CHAN YOU UNCULTURED NEWFAG SHIT!
>>1050408 Titus wears the chains around his arm to signify he came from a Deathwatch company. But in this short specifically, the chains are attached to the coffin holding the psyker.
>>1050472 Daemons and chaos champions always come back. Khorne, Lucius, basically everyone in the Thousand Sons, plus let's not forget about all the times the chaos primarchs have died (Magnus, Morty, Angron, etc)
>>1050472 >>1050499 It's the explicit /tg/ lore that the gods keep bringing her back because she's so annoying and they think it's funny having her torture the galaxy (and Dranon in particular) by being so annoying
>>1050497 So the Ultrasmurf gets "da kewl thing" without even using the cool thing it was intended for. Also, rewatch the video. He's pulling the coffin with one chain and he still has the chains around his arm. While I can somewhat appreciate it as >Captain Titus met a Black Templar in the Deathwatch and started doing X especially with the recent lore of the Raven Guard realizing that the chapters have stood alone too long to the point that they're willing to team up with the White Scars to fuck up the Tau, it doesn't really work when it ends up being >oh, here's this cool thing, but he doesn't do it right Therefore, fuck you. It doesn't change the fact that it's poorly written and bad.
>>1050536 Addendum: https://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Deathwatch Ctrl + F "Chain" in lexicanum. ZERO RESULTS.
>>1050537 Maybe he saw a black templar beat someone to death with a chain, got jealous, got a chain.
>>1050474 Wait I called her chaos-chan? Why did I do that? I even got her name correct the first time, why did I call her chaos-chan mid sentence?
>>1050536 >Raven Guard >team up with the White Scars <to fuck up the Tau That's like the equivalent of two buddies going to "deer hunt" but in practice the just go out to set up in a tree, drink beer, tell old stories, and scare the shit out of all of the wild life. Because they both brought 50 cals.
>>1050543 You probably got Tzeentch'd
>>1050548 Short version - Farsight found out about imperial war-doctrine. He created his own version for the Tau called the Mirrorcodex. It became prescribed reading for the Tau when he bailed to create the Farsight Enclave. Shadowsun claims that you risk not only censure but death if you openly speak of it. The Tau managed to kill Severax, the former Raven Guard chapter master, which prompted the team up between Speed Forcers and the Wraithslippers. Both sets of information came from the 7th Edition of Warzone Damocles: Kauyon. They're trying to make the Tau a threat now.
Love the reworked ogre and orc factions in total war warhammer 3
>>1050632 Khorne is more my cup of tea, but I agree the new reworks and factions are awesome.
>>1050638 khorne is sadly too easy now especially skulltaker. Nothing beats the new gaze of mork orgasm
>>1050639 Khorne is easy as he's always been, but there's lots of challenges to be found on an individual scale, though not exactly on a campaign-scale. I had to fight lots of tight battles because I refuse to back down and will use every host to its fullest, and it feels very nice to beat the shit out of a much bigger army with a battered down blood host and then make more. Nothing so far has matched up to the fun of playing Chorfs though, those are the best.
>>1050641 Chorfs are basically the horrors of the industrial revolution crashing down on peasants I agree they are fun af. For me it's bloodhosts upkeep going from money to skull it has a snowball potential that is way too big. Also god damn those prices, glad I don't pay the dlcs

Soldier + Executioner. >Argenta is Soldier Arch Mili with heavy weapon focuses. >All combat boils down to me with Argenta and Cassia with Henrix. Will of Emperor, Voice of Command, etc stack all the buffs. Send Henrix off, kill in melee, activate heroic power, move around more and burn anyone he can't get in stabbing range. >if anyone is left alive, do the same to Argenta but stack range buffs, let her use burst fire with a heavy bolter (Found the gauntlets that negate recoil). 30 damage for 11 shots on target is insane, turning her into a Retributor. Abelard, Kibellah, Idira and Jae can't even compete. I used a heavy flamer with Argenta on that Genestealer cult and ended the battle before they could even move.
2248dfb8 The episode on 40k from amazon's secret level, made by blur studios. Its low on dialogue, high visual levels, and for some reason gamma is really low.
>>1051382 Obviously its a Rule of Cool Astartes styled movie, don't actually pay for this. The studio behind this actually made the cinematics for Dawn of War 1.

>>1051997 I didn't know that any of them ever do go home. I thought that they left forever when they deploy.
>>1051552 >16mb png jeesus mossa have mercy on our servers
>>1052080 Most of them do. Imperial guard has a pretty high casualty ratio. That being said a high casualty ratio of like 50% still leaves 50% left. even if this goes on for a long time eventually 1 person will make it back home. I mean look at her, she is missing a leg, an arm and an eye. She can't fight anymore, letting her go out there is just a waste of a las rifle. So just send her home. Obviously the imperium is pretty heartless but it is pragmatic for the most part. Guardsmen are supposed to be up to US marines standard and that missing leg alone would prevent her from reaching that standard.
>>1052131 Depends on the situation. If the guardsman likes their job and is good at it, they'll fit that guardsman with a genuine prosthetic. And not just a crappy modern-era kind, but a mechanical one like the adepts would have. This is very rare, but then again, a guardsman losing a limb and surviving and being good at their job is also very rare. I wouldn't expect to see a corporal or even most rank-and-file sergeants fitted with an exclusive Mechanicus prosthetic, but you definitely see commissars, generals, commanders, colonels, etc. (basically most officers) with them. This can range from bionic eyes to entire arms or legs. That said, the Imperium needs good teachers and instructors in war, so the schola progenium hires veterans most of all to teach their new wave of recruits in the art of war and combat. They are definitely similar to Starship Troopers in this sense, that they don't let cowards teach the incoming wave of new recruits in how to be brave.
(686.63 KB 506x764 =I=.png)

>>1052131 Is that some new lore? As I remember it, guardsmen have virtually no hope of ever seeing their home planets again, and even the rare one-in-a-million that survives long enough to age out (lol have some juvenaut) retires to a paradise world somewhere... where they probably get killed by either a Slaaneshi pleasure cult or some Inquisitorial acolytes who, in a panic, call for an orbital bombardment when they fail to stop said Slaaneshi pleasure cult from summoning some daemonettes.
>>1052277 I know most guard veterans when they're mustered out are used as colonists for whatever worlds the Imperium colonizes/recolonizes or else to replace the native population of the world if they've been culled for heresy/witnessing heresy. Most Cadian regiments had that as their retirement plan.
(63.00 KB 948x350 planet of guardsmen.png)

>>1052277 >>1052281 Most guardsmen don't WANT to return home after having seen much of the galaxy and the diversity of worlds one could live on. They probably hear a lot about paradise worlds or decide to go on a pilgrimage to Terra. A huge chunk of the Imperium's soldiers are recruited from worlds with a surplus of population, and most likely squalid conditions. Hive-cities, agri-worlds, forge worlds, etc. I also imagine travelling between solar systems would be rather expensive and impossible for all but the most seasoned veterans.
>>1052299 >>1052277 >>1052281 I suppose it might be a bit different for an abhuman, especially a nightsider. They're going to feel way more comfortable with their own kind and on their home planet or at least another planet with a similar environment. They're also a bit more valuable than the base standard guardsman, due to being able to operate in a difficult environment for an unagumented human. If she's injured enough to not be assigned to frontline duty she could still be garrisoned back home and charged with developing a nightsider regiment for specialty deployment.

Why is Roboute Guilliman pushing so hard for a Human Eldar alliance? That one Eldar waifu saved him but the rest of the Eldar seem to want Humanity gone. Could someone explain to me? I'm a newfag to 40k.
>>1052796 There are bigger threats in the universe. I think it is also partially influenced by meta reasons. People expect the Elves and the humans to be on the same side even if these elves are genocidal assholes. Thus the author has them making an alliance and helping each other even though Eldar are more than willing to kill entire planets of humans just to save a single eldar. It is just more awful new lore. Ignore it.
>>1052796 Because Chaos is about to spill out completely into real space and turn the entire galaxy into a giant Eye of Terror. The new Eldar faction is lead by an Anathama type being that wants to KILL CHAOS so they're pretty closely aligned at the moment. There's even some implication that Dad told Big G to blanda up with the Eldar even when they had their heart to heart chat. Certain factions of Eldar have always attempted to work with the Imperium, with limited success. Both sides know that the alliance is a bit self serving and neither humans nor Eldar ultimately want to be the client species of the other but considering the alternative is literally going to Hell, the adults in the room on both sides understand detente. >>1052799 >even though Eldar are more than willing to kill entire planets of humans just to save a single eldar That's because they know that they have no permanent Heaven any more while faithful humans do with the Emperor so they consider it the lesser of two evils. Also different subfactions of Eldar vary in their levels of extremism and xenophobia. For the record the Imperium is the same way. The Ordo Malleus, including Grey Knights, stood guard over a dead craftworld once to protect the soul stones so they could hand them back over to Eldar because they KNOW that permanently killing Eldar and destroying soul stones just empowers the Tranny God.

Second, dont believe anything what the faggots on grimdank speard. 90% of the 40k misinformations came from there. Like many anon pointed it out in this thread, the Rogue Trader rpg is very good start to learn the basics. The game dialogue system has a mini wiki which sums up most of the lore bits in 3 or 4 sentences.

>>1052869 Speaking of Bros, I like the fact that the Fucking Silent King is a Sanguinius fan and is sad that he died.
>>1052881 how could he have known about Sanguinius?
>>1052895 Because apparently he woke up during the Great Crusade and met Sanguinius at some point, and he was so struck by how cool he was that he decided to help the Blood Angels against the Tyranids just because he respected Sanguinius that much from their one meeting (Matt Ward wrote that lore, if you couldn't tell.)
>>1052796 Because groups of the Eldar outside of Big G's waifu are reaching out to the IoM as Chaos has split the galaxy, in half and even more nid hive fleets are showing up (implication that the galaxy is surrounded). At this point a lot of figures on both ends of the IoM and various Eldar factions, are willing to put aside thousands of years worth of distrust/hatred to survive this shitshow.

>>1053050 >Rykad Minoris >need to purge later I doubt Calcazar has a way to remove a daemon world. Henrix told you it's a bad idea and he was right. They're permanent and the souls of people on the planet are trapped there until they stop existing, if you let a planet go to shit that badly it will be there probably forever, threatening everything around it. There might be a dark age of technology thing that could remove it somewhere in the Imperium, but I doubt it's likely Calcazar could get his hands on that, even if he's a Lord Inquisitor.

>>1053613 I don't agree. It's quite obvious that Owlcat had to rush the game out for Warhammer's deadline of Christmas 2023. It was so buggy at launch and even with these big patches they're still adding stuff to the game. The Commoragh segment in particular. The game just spews gloves, helmets and boots at you in multiple random chests. In Pathfinder, you'd find each individual item on a body or a single chest, not 3 - 5 chest in the same level that's passed with a single skillcheck. Theodora's murderer reveals who they are randomly before an arena fight. Yrliet's sudden betrayal and killing Achillies off-screen is something I've never seen Owlcat do in a Pathfinder game. One of the devs said they had to cut alot of content. Apparently the Rogue Trader would explore the ruined Craftworld Crudarach with Yrliet, instead her quest got tied into Winterscale's one. You can see what things they had to prioritize and what they had to cut.

I gotta start playing on harder difficulties. The game is throwing items at me like Hunter's Focus helm for Yrliet and as a result of getting Exemplar ranks I can do something like this. 2700 damage is x47 his total health. Ulfar's also too big to be redeployed. Carnival of Misery with the bleed, burn, toxin stack/level subpassive then trigger Inflame with Henrix. That triggers burn damage on every enemy and since it does +68 damage, it's pretty much like Toybox's "Kill All" button.

I think it might have been the burning but at this point I'm hitting him with every debuff I can he lags the game everytime I pull up his character sheet. That last attack, I think he leapt at Abelard who counter attacked him or something. I don't really know cause the game froze bad then proceeded to the cutscene. 8k damage is a new record. >>1054252 Jae is okay as a 3rd officer in the group but since Cassia and my Sancti officer are the first two to move in battle and she's the last, the battle ends usually before she moves. >Iconoclast option to let a Genestealer Cult live on a desolate world. As it fucks up my ship if the rabble refuse to work and undermines my Throne given authority, if my officers start acting like they run the place. <But that sounds like a reasonable person I view being a mix of Iconoclast and Dogmatic to be the correct choice in my opinion, as while I'm not going to place you in front of lasgun for just looking at me wrong, I'm also not going to tolerate shit no reasonable person would.

>>1054342 >>1054355 I try to be a man for the people in my game. If your subjects are happy they will work harder and fight for you, plus living in 40k is hard enough. But when you got a chaos marine showing up and the entire planet is turning to shit its kinda time to cut your losses. Speaking of the marine he wasnt as nasty as I was hoping. The first round he punted the sister of battle and raked my line with heavy bolter fire and when I told Abelard to go smack his nuts he swaped to melee and just kinda sat there and took it up the ass. The sniper did more damage to my crew than he did.
>>1054367 By lore standard you and your crew should just died for that one CSM. But this is a video game and a power fantasy. You and your retinue just built different. Yrliet's character path I'm still upset over. She gets alot of time in Commoragh, have actually gotten use to calling the RT elantach and yet after that scene of devotion with the missing spirit stone, her path just ends there. It's also reflected in her battle dialog where she continues to call you Mon'Keigh like when you met. I hate that so much stuff with her got cut compared to WOTR. Owlcat supposedly have 450 staff members according to their site, at least 100 core people working on projects like this. I guess even with a workforce like that they had to cut it to meet Warhammer's deadline. Found another cut section. >>1054352 It absolutely was a directive from Warhammer. Not to stain the image of the Our Martyred lady. >>1054338 That is probably the most sensible choice. Destroying an Archeotech device is a sad thing but if you can't get it off the world, better to flatten it and cause an Exterminatus than handing it over to the enemy. I managed to get it out so I didn't do that.
>>1054355 >Did GW give him a snake pussy Well, they gave him a snake codpiece and if he's anything like an actual snake he has two dicks and they're retractable. >>1054381 >It absolutely was a directive from Warhammer. Not to stain the image of the Our Martyred lady. If I remember the sisters aren't chaste?
>>1054415 I think it's less that they're chaste and that the sterile super soldiers that the Imperium produces are just perma-stuck in battle-mode. Otherwise, if I was a mass-eugenics practicing civ dealing with the kind of bullshit the Imperium does, I'd want to make a mother out of basically every vetted Sister of Battle or a gene sample failing that. Doubly so of the further "successful" ones. Same with the Space Marines and Imperial Guard (so basically mass breeding Cadians, which I think they actually do?) again I think its that they're all fucking sterile, and/or they're too busy fighting shit to have a family/romance.
>>1054431 Space Marines aren't sterile, the whole thing about them being castrated either chemically or physically is one part fanon propagated by "memes" and another part a misinterpretation of the "chem gelded" rule that could be bought in the Fantasy Flight Games rpgs like Deathwatch or Dark Heresy (ignoring regular humans could buy it too) Granted there's no lore on if a Space Marine could breed with a baseline human, we have some anecdotes about Space Wolves having sex and seeing aspirants centuries later that look like them, but it's not clear if that was before or after they became space marines. We know they're hypno indoctrinated to ignore most worldly wants, which probably would include pleasures of the flesh and mostly just focus on fighting the Imperium's enemies (since that's their job) Sisters are in another grey area, where they don't take vows of chastity like the nuns in our world. But we never hear of a sister having children either. Likely for the same reason as the space marine, their job is killing the enemies of the Imperium. In terms of actual branches of the Imperium we see handling breeding. Obviously the guard, especially Cadians, encourage people to shack up and make more new guardsmen during any extended lull in the fighting. Then there's Kreig which uses cloning technology. The Ad Mech, despite disdaining the flesh, have canonical examples of a tech priest and tech priestess having a child together (gestated in an artificial womb using eggs harvested when the tech priestess still had more fleshy bits, but still) Funnily enough, we have at least one account of a female inquisitor getting hot and bothered seeing some Grey Knights out of their armor and showering, with the Knights utterly bewildered about what has her so stricken while she drools over their force rods.
>>1054372 No, you're heavily overrating Space Marines and underrating your party and the Rogue Trader himself. You are not some newbie, unless you pick the noble origin you are a veteran of countless battles, renowned accross the system. They're like Orks essentially but more group psychology summon pure warp manifestations than fungus boys just really wanting to win and a foot appears. The Eechisarchy then would obviously discourage carnal relations with the laypeople as that tends to form sentimentality and therefore weakness. "Bolter Nuns" is more than a joke, it's an apt description. That last attack on the Emperor by Kibellah did 860 damage and managed to stagger Emps himself. Cassia was someone's favorite. Idira gets a walled off section of a main quest to resolve her problem. Cassia gets an entire book sequence, planet system and level taking place on a Crone world. It feels like they completed her last companion quest like this, then didn't have time for the others. Bringing Yrliet to a Crone world and encountering a Harlequin Troupe. >>1054471 Oh and Degraded Defense is one of the best Exemplar ranks you can have on a character. If you sacrifice an exemplar talent slot on your main damage dealers, so 1 of the 3, everytime they attack they increase the stack. So Yrliet added +9 with that over penetration, +1 stack for every 6 damage. This damage is then added for every other ally that attacks. Imagine if Argenta had +30 damage to every shot she takes. And this is before confirming crits. Granted you need it on multiple damage dealers to be effective, but if you have it on single large damage dealers like Heinrix or Yrliet then switch over to Argenta who can use the damage in a burst fire. Simple really. Charged a Herald of Tzeentch. Also here. You can find a Scrap-Code fragment that says you found it on Kiava-Gamma yet this is the Siege of Euphrates 2. Likewise the alignment description here mentions finding this psyker on Kiava-Gamma. Me thinks they made the Kiava-Gamma part like like the Minotaur Labrynith in WOTR, ran out of time, cut all the sub areas like this and repurposed it into a map for Euphrates 2. >" Shestov: Compared to the original plan, a sufficient number of systems and content were cut from the game at different stages. Here are some examples: the use of military vehicles, mass battles, craftworld, a full-fledged system of morality and fear like in the desktop prototype, changing the voidship, decorating the voidship, the production of goods and items in a trading empire, the trading system itself. " This does explain a bit. They have a full model of Leman Russ tanks but don't use them. The Voidship is a Saber Class because it's one of the only models that has been fully modeled and implemented into the game. God this just makes me hate Warhammer more for rushing this out. What the buffs can do to Argenta. First she's firing shots that maybe do 60 damage each. With buffs from officers and abilities suddenly she's doing over a thousand. Can wipe out a Lord of Change on the first turn. Her quest just ends like that. At least she got an ending I suppose as opposed to Yrliet. But still, they used some frozen map assets they had from Sithhud's map in WOTR and just called it a day. Sigh. Also love this Warlock Blade I got from an event on Janus. The Lord of Change, the Edge of Daybreak also just died and I guess we're done with him now. The whole of Euphrates 2 just kicks you back to the star map and is never mentioned by the crew or anyone. It really feels like there's no payoff to anything big happening in act 4. It's just railroaded into something happening and then moving on. The final boss of the game isn't Choas, it's Necrons for some reason. This item right here is so broken. Scaling defense against range damage, only available to an Iconoclast. These Necron Destroyers have a 95% damage reduction on the front yet Argenta is still doing 20 damage a shot. It's just hacking at them over time that you'll finally get them. >>1054580 When enemies are within 3 tiles of her and she can use leap of death, she's unstoppable. It is also nice to see just how fanatical a Death Cult is when the only references you might have for them is a unit in Soulstorm and the wiki.

>>1054650 So the only way to learn the Necron language is from the random events on the prison planet. That's something I missed. There are 5 Necron maps in act 5, meaning this is one of the most fleshed out areas in the game in terms of map design. >Doppleganger fight. They really want to drag out this part of the game. This is also the most companion interaction I've had in conversations since act 3. And Calcazar straight up admits it. This right here is Xeno Heresy, consorting with the Dark Eldar to steal suns of Imperial worlds to feed to a C'tan. He deserves death for this.

>>1054669 That's the Void Dragon if I'm remembering my models correctly. Pasqel did say he knew the feeling of being separated from Amarnat. Ending slide time. If you go Iconoclast without Nomos, the Imperium comes into the Koronus and bombs all the words back to the stone age. If you're trying to create a utopia, make sure to have a very big stick. Yes, that makes me a Heretic for using a C'tan god like Calcazar but everyone still prays to the Emperor and Choas isn't tolerated. We're pure in the eyes of Emps, I think. Rumors of the cut content will circulate long after this game is finished. The Commisar card says he stayed in the city to betray others, even though I saved him. I even made a post about it. >>1053579 >Jae for some reason spends money to hunt down the Bloodspun Web after their new mission trying to put the Emperor's Tarot back together. >Kibellah hides her feelings from the Domin, content with being a bodyguard. >DESPITE THE ENTIRE GAME TRYING TO TEACH HER TO BE HER OWN PERSON. >Heinrix went Puritan, despite me having him show mercy, which I think is supposed to trigger him over looking Xeno co-operation like on Janus. >Kibellah also influenced Idira's ending. Yet I also get the slide where she went into exile. These endings suck.

>>1054650 This is what people talked about in here last year. The final act came out of nowhere. This whole necron shit should have been a DLC where you find out why Theodora was a massive bitch. Most of my companions were dead at this point but the ones who lived got some "wtf nigger?" tier quests. The Sister went for her holy armor like it had any relevance. Her whole stick was with Theodora and that she nearly got offed during her solo mission. The SM got the bonus space wolf furry shit. Which is bullshit, because his personal quest was that how he is in beef with his chapter. You know. The shit which you went trough during the siege. One chapter earlier!!!! >>1054675 And that is it. They even thanked the mods. Curiously, it made an auto save before the battle, after the ending slides under the name "for Import." It could be they do more DLC in the future after the Arbites character. Urgh, what to make of this game. Okay, so if Rogue Trader started development after WOTR, that'd be Sept 2021, Russian invasion Feb 2022, they moved the studio to Cypress which took a few months to get people settled, Rogue Trader revealed June 2022, Beta June 2023, full release Dec 2023. From this timeline you can see just how cramped the dev cycle was. Even though there were 300+ people working on this, so much of act 3 and beyond is butchered to patch together a minimal viable product for Gee Dubs to release by Christmas. And that's what I don't like about this, it's just a miss match of plot-threads that get resolved too fast or don't get resolved at all. There are occasional flashes of good dialog but you don't really get to know the characters like you do in a Pathfinder game. Owlcat wanted to make Rogue Trader the tabletop and Gee Dubs didn't let them. That wasted potential is why I'm frustrated with this game. Sigh, at least I finished it. It did let me see what having a Celestian in a squad would be like with Argenta and the Heavy Bolter. It is OP as it sounds. >>1054677 I've been waiting for a year cause I've been distracted and I played WOTR at launch without Toybox. Playing an Owlcat CRPG without Toybox and bugfixes is a mistake. And if you go Dogmatic instead of Iconoclast then you get this instead. >None of the reflections can be reasoned with, even if the Iconoclast one is probably the one for whom it would be the easiest. Generic good guy who discovered the value of human life, allied with eldars, yadda yadda. Comes with Abelard as a companion. And of course, Yrliet died in his reality to save him by catching a blow that was meant for him. Even in alternate realities, she can't catch a break. Yeah, it's just such a mess storywise I'm surprised they released it. The entire 5th act is just Necrons, anything to do with Edge of Daybreak is resolved when you kill the Lord of Change

>>1054678 Oh and I just remembered. Rogue Trader reminds me a bit of Dragon Age 2, a game with a rushed production schedule to meet an unrealistic deadline set by a publisher that reused parts of previously created areas to extended gameplay yet had an ending that was fully finished and realize tied together with an overarching story that doesn't make alot of sense and companions who's stories get resolved quickly or not at all. Maybe the next 40k CRPG will be better. Who knows.

>>1054783 Doubtful. It's that much of a mess they'd have to re-record dialog lines, create new quest areas and then bug test all of it. This isn't a case of the game being in EA, it's been out for over a year, they're working on 3 different projects right now so after the Arbites character I think they're done with it.

There's no investigation into Theodora's death, there's no hunting for Dawn Cults to get clues on Daybreak, there's no explanation as to why Epitaph is so important apart from the C'tan shard. Calcazar just infodumps the entire plot of "Oh yeah, I had the Deldar steal suns from Imperial worlds cause I wanted to feed them to the Void Dragon." Necron ancient tier (But still fairly good) Space Hulk: Vengeance of the Blood Angels Epic 40k: Final Liberation Chaos Gate (The Original) Fangame tier Chapter Master (quality varies by version)
>>1055941 >Fangame tier Speaking of which are there any good 40k fangames or lawyer safe knockoffs of 40k?
>>1055899 >>1055941 I can make a chart out of this if you anons want.
>>1056002 >or lawyer safe knockoffs of 40k? Starcraft, Gears of War, Marathon/Halo, Bulletstorm...trying to think of more that would "qualify" but a lot of it is the types of games people "hated" during the seventh gen. Which is rather ironic in retrospect considering how the seventh gen was defined by games about big meaty men with big meaty guns killing anything that so much as farts croocked.
>>1056011 To think those types of games are so rare now.
>>1056012 To he honest, looking back, I don't see what the issue was. I was largely disconnected from the central vidya discussion of that day, so all my knowledge of it is from hearsay. I can understand the frustration people had with game mechanics being comprimised and simplified in the name of "accessibility", and how everything from Front Mission to Ace Combat was changing their core gameplay to become shooters, but it felt like all the hate towards games and series that were unapologetically masculine in and of themselves was manufactured.
>>1056020 Over exposure is a huge part of it. People will get sick of the same thing being given to them over and over. So because Halo and CoD was popular we got a slew of marines and military shooters. It is like how after league got popular we got a 1001 ASSFAGGOTS trying to get a piece of the pie. Or how after sonic got popular we got a million mascot platformers, Or how FNAF got popular and now the term "mascot horror" is a thing. I do wonder if the success of space marine 2 is going to lead to a return to grim sci-fi shooters.
>>1056023 SM2 is still considered niche even if it was a success. I think more normalfag pandering in the next few years will try to reflect Baldurs Gate 3, Diablo IV, and PoE.
>>1056010 So do I, it can be tier based and genre based so others can check what kind of gameplay it offers
>>1056010 Yes please do. >>1056011 Those technically qualify but they never really had the same scifi gothic feel that 40k has (had?) no the scifi hair metal that earlt 40k had so they just don't scratch the same itch for me. Big dude with heavy armor and a gun on some generic space ship or alien planet doesn't do it for me the same way that big dude in baroque armor with a gilded gun on a space cathedral or walking through Hell as conceived by Pieter Bruegel does. Although the former is still miles better than the fucking iphone scifi "aesthetic" we get now.
>>1056045 >they never really had the same scifi gothic feel that 40k has (had?) There's also Quantum Theory, the entire Doom franshise, the entire Quake franchise, the entire Alien franchise (And it's AVP spin-offs), Prey...I want to say Contra and R-Type but those are completely different.
>>1056058 R-Type is completely different but Contra's closer.
>>1056058 You know what I'd like to see is a 40k game, fan or otherwise, done in the stylo fo the old arcade AVP sidescroller with Marines killing genestealers.
>>1056045 >big dude in baroque armor with a gilded gun on a space cathedral or walking through Hell as conceived by Pieter Bruegel does A perfect encapsulation of why the only thing 40k has going for it is the Imperium and every other faction is generic sci-fi sludge except the orks
>>1056020 They were generic slow console shooters with hardly any depth or reason to replay. At least Quake Wars and Fuels of War had some scope to them.
>>1056100 >Chaos >Tyranids >Generic SciFi sludge Fag
>>1056098 What I'd like to see is 40k games, fan or otherwise, done in the Contra style as Run And Guns.

>>1056155 I almost forgot that game existed. I liked it, despite how short it was. It was the first 40k game to include the White Scars, believe it or not. I think that game is really cute and underrated, to be honest. I hope the devs were able to make a profit.

>>1056034 >>1055899 >>1056034 Here's a general premise how it would look
>>1056387 You want something like this?
Before I do anything, I want this thread to decide what tiers and what games go into said tiers.
>>1056348 I don't give a shit if you played the garbage that is Starcraft before knowing about 40K. Tyranids were based off Xenomorphs and outside some copycat Alien flicks there's barely any hivemind scifi media like that, much less in terms of scale. Not my fault you played nothing but Halo and Dead Space like a queer.
>>1056390 I like >>1056387's start, I think if we can narrow down on a single 40k game as "the best" then it should be in an "Emperor Tier" all on it's own. I at least think there should be more tiers that represent a bad product than a good product, for the simple reason being that there are so few good 40k games compared to a lot of trash. As for the other tiers, in order of best to least: >Primarch Tier >Chapter Master Tier >Squad Champion Tier >Neophyte Tier >Chapter Serf Tier >Civilian Tier >Servitor Tier >Heretic Tier With Neophyte being 'mediocre' or just barely passing, and everything below it being worse and worse appraisals. An example of Civilian tier would be Fire Warrior, and an example of Heretic tier would be Dawn of War III
>>1056412 Alright that sounds good, now this thread just has to decide what games fit into what now. I personally agree with DoW 3 going into Heretic tier.
>>1056412 >Emperor Tier DoW1 No fucking argument
>>1056427 Because love can bloom?
What games capture the kriegsman feel better?
>>1056424 I agree with the sentiment about Dawn of War 1 being in Emperor Tier but I'll let others vote on that before it gets decided I can only speak for the 40k games I played personally, but >Primarch Tier Space Marine 1, Rogue Trader, Mechanicus, Boltgun >Chapter Master Tier Space Marine 2, Final Liberation, Shootas Blood and Teef, Space Hulk: Deathwing >Squad Champion Tier Darktide, Dawn of War II, >Neophyte Tier Hired Gun, Chaos Gate: Daemonhunters >Civilian Tier Gladius, Fire Warrior >Servitor Tier Any of the mobile games >Heretic Tier Dawn of War III
How good is that 2013 Space Hulk game?
>>1056392 >Tyranids were based off Xenomorphs and outside some copycat Alien flicks there's barely any hivemind scifi media like that, much less in terms of scale. Lel, are you kidding? >>1056452 >darktide below space marine 2
>>1056608 Besides having an atrocious start, it is also plagued by reddit-tier censorship and moderators, plus is bloated by premium cosmetics over adding actual gameplay content. Both are well-made but SM2 clearly had more love put into it and care for the community.
>>1056609 Played that game for almost 1.000 and while the vox operators minus Morrow/Kx8/Hastia/Hadron are all insufferable, the gunfeel is unmatched. I don't give a single fuck about the premium cosmetics because they don't give bonuses or anything (the redacted penance ones are also free and superior looking). the crafting got unfucked and the new weapons are fun. You can even make ogryns work on Havoc 40. The moderators being annoying is just a symptom of playing on discord. Meanwhile SM2 runs like shit, full of fanservices like "haha he said the codex doesn't support this action" while the gameplay is some gears of war clone. So yes your honor I do prefer Darktide's gameplay over Space Marine 2 fun two hours worth of gameplay. I like to PLAY my games
This chart is going to be interesting.
>>1056610 >I don't give a single fuck about the premium cosmetics because Stopped reading there
>>1056452 I would put deathwing way down. That game is barely functional.
>>1056610 >while the gameplay is some gears of war clone. I am convinced the people who say this has never played gears of war. Space marine is nothing like gears of war. What the fuck are you people talking about?
>>1056634 They think every third person shooter with heavy movement and big gun is gears of war, despite having no cover mechanics or such
>>1056452 My list is below. >Primarch Tier Rogue Trader, Dawn of War 1 + 2, Darktide >Chapter Master Tier Space Marine 1 + 2 >Squad Champion Tier Mechanicus, Battlefleet Gothic Armada 2 >Neophyte Tier Shootas, Boltgun, Chaos Gate: Daemonhunters. Decent. Boltgun got boring after 3 hours at which point I just went to play some other of the dime-a-dozen FPS with a similar retro aesthetic, but it's still decent. >Civilian Tier Gladius, Dawn of War 3. DoW 3 is well below the other DoW, it might fail to capture the 40k feel and aesthetic and disappoint me immensely with its mediocrity and bad ideas, but all things considered it is still functional and mediocre. That's more than I can say about the titles below. >Servitor Tier SH : Deathwing. Deathwing at its best is boring and annoying to play, at worst it had bugs and jank every milisecond. Maybe the enhanced edition fixed it, but from what I read it made some things even worse. >Heretic Tier Hired Gun. This is garbage and only the aesthetics are above trash. Combat's awful, animations horrible and the game system seems to want you to engage with them because the devs are retarded and want you looking at exactly what's bad about the game, weapon limitations are annoying and retarded, weapons feel weak, jank and bugs everywhere. This is the worst FPS I've played in the last two decades and I'm not even joking here. I can't even think of a worse one, really. This is like an extremely poor man's Doom 2016 with a 40k skin.
>>1056610 >I don't like SM2 Fair enough >It plays like Gears >I prefer Darktide Alright you need to be lobotomized

>>1056667 Because nearly every sci-fi property with any popularity is already owned by a handful of companies that would rather keep re-selling the same crap than develop anything original in the genre.

>>1056155 >>1056181 I gave the PS4 version a try, and it ran at 30FPS. How do you even manage to make a 2D game run this badly?
>>1056610 Darktide moderators banned my in-game name multiple times and I had to maneuver around the filters to restore it. They also banned my friend entirely from playing on his steam profile. Luckily the family sharing worked for him when he made a new Steam account. This isn't merely a discord thing. Also the devs spending more time and effort on cosmetics than the gameplay should absolutely matter to you. It's also rather annoying that there are so few maps and the new game mode is basically just what the chaos wastes were in Vermintide 2 - totally lazy copypastas of old maps but with a color filter. SM2 has incredible detail, a good story, memorable characters, good gameplay (though worse than SM1) and fluid animations. It's also receiving free updates with more content. I guarantee you money that Fatshark is only making every content update in Darktide free because they received such outstanding backlash in the first year after the game's launch. This is a major issue as anyone could tell. Would you give Cyberpunk 2077 a posthumous GOTY award considering its current state compared to what it was on release? >>1056632 Deathwing II is also barely functional? I don't remember ever having performance issues when I played that. >>1056645 Why would you put Mechanicus at Champion rather than at a tier higher? The one thing that's prevented me from diving into the new 40k games is that they're all so Ultramarine focused. I don't have a problem with them per se, in fact they're a pretty nice Chapter/Legion but they are at the same time very much Vanilla Marines. I understand why they're the focus with them being sort of the GW mascots right now but it would be nice to play as someone else for a change. I will admit that some of the variant armors look rather nice.
>>1056936 It's why dawn of war stood out so much, focusing on a Thousand Sons successor chapter, the Blood Ravens

>>1056939 And even then that's very much in the background and implied. You would think something like Boltgun at least could give you the ability to unlock marines from different Chapters with their own specific livery, loadouts, and perhaps skills for subsequent playthroughs.

It was rather easy on release but it was at least a competent game and had excellent characters and soundtrack. I also think you're going too hard on Boltgun. You need to compare it to what other "boomer shooters" I say this ironically have to offer. Boltgun is average when it comes to the various so-called boomer shooters. There's lots that are better, from Dusk to Project Warlock. I liked it, but it's nothing special, a 6.5 or 7/10 title. Concerning Mechanicus, the gap between Squad Champion and Chapter Master is close to nothing, I initially thought about putting SM1+2, Mechanicus and BGA2 in the same tier, but that'd leave one tier completely empty of any games, so I went with my gut feeling here.
>>1057095 >boomer shooters Please don't use their term for that. Just call it a retro FPS or classic FPS or something like that.

Important point which I forgot With that in mind, I think it's important that Dawn of War III be kept in Heresy tier. It is still playable, but not very good in terms of gameplay nor is it good in terms of 40k in general. With that said, can I recommend we change "Necron Ancient" to "Archeotech" tier instead? Or even "Dark Age of Technology" if you think the dark age part doesn't make the game seem like a bad thing. It keeps things in the theme of being human/imperium centric. I vote for Final Liberation to go in this Archeotech tier. It isn't a bad game by any stretch but the mechanics have certainly aged and even the subject matter is more Epic 40k related than Warhammer 40k. I must insist on Chaos Gate: Daemonhunters being a lower tier, though. There are MANY turn-based 40k games to choose from, and while Daemonhunters is modern, it isn't very well polished and it also has some rather predatory DLC. If you want, though, you can put Darktide in Chapter Master tier as far as FPS games go.

>>1057374 Classic poisoned well tactic.
>>1058145 I don't think that leads to Femarines because they have repeatedly, over and over in the BL stuff even, said that Marines have to be male. More to the point even if you could use little girl aspirants and they'd survive the initial implantation then after a year or two they probably wouldn't be female anymore anyway. The geneseed process seems to deactivate or overwrite large portions of the normal human genome. There's at least a few legions that the process greatly alters them to even come to resemble their primarch like Sons of Horus, Blood Angels, and possibly Alpha Legion. The Blood Angels implantation process is so dramatic that it can take radiation and mutation scarred runts and spit out bishie marines a year layer. Lil' sis ain't coming out the other end of all that with a cunny between her legs or boobs on her chest. If anything this probably will just tank the reputation of Custodes in the eyes of players. They were already a in universe mary sue faction, but being non playable for so long and mysterious people were fond of them as a concept. Now they're on the way to becoming golden Grey Knights
>>1058186 They probably wouldn't even survive the initial implantation, just like how implanting an incompatible kidney could lead to total organ failure

>>1058904 It's not about your everyday guardsman knowing about the Rock, moreso that they have the technology and the justification to inhabit destroyed planets. Cadia had the brightest minds the Imperium could afford working on and with it so surely they could find a reason and way to put up some bases on the shards of Cadia. I only wonder why they bothered when there are plenty of other planets and star systems near the Eye that they could set up shop on instead. It's probably a sentimental reason.
>>1058924 The thing is that Caliban had a bunch of not only DAoT era tech on it but even some pre-War in Heave era "tech" as well. I suppose you could justify it because Cadia was/is a Tomb world so maybe that's how significant parts of it could have survived.
>>1058925 I thought they kept that on the battle barges and inside the Rock after Caliban exploded? In any case you bring up a good point. The Battlefleet Gothic cinematics showed that Cadia had some Necron techmagic on it which was somehow keeping Chaos at bay. Maybe that somehow managed to survive or is being salvaged by any means necessary from some Mechanicus cunts.
>>1058949 >I thought they kept that on the battle barges and inside the Rock after Caliban exploded? >>1060087 Emperor Tier Soulstorm with UA or Unification mods While the base game now has 9 factions and I'd put in Primarch, it's necessary for the mods meaning you will be downloading this one the most. Dark Crusade. It's gameplay map and 7 factions each having dialog with each other makes the game replayable. Primarch Tier Original Dawn of War. It doesn't have native widescreen because it came out in 2004. Gameplay heavily favors Eldar. It's campaign is good and alot of the music was used in TTS Winter Assault - IG Added, campaign with Sturn is good but it's a good addition for things to come. Dawn of War 2 + Chaos Rising Relic wanted to go into their Company of Heroes audience and while the game is easy, it does have alot of personality in killing enemies. Retribution The campaign was overly done with reused maps because they wanted to do more with it. But again, the factions have different fighting methods and personalities. Bluddflagg. Mechanicus The turn based battles of raiding an old folks home coupled with some of the best music made for a 40k game. Space Marine Execution moves in third person while offering some of the best action in the setting. Last Stand mode? Not sure where to put this one as I didn't play it. People think highly of it though. Chapter Master Tier Battlefleet Gothic 2 with Skalgrim Mod. I like big ships and I can not lie. Want to put higher but it's unbalanced currently Chapter Master The game is a buggy unfinished mod yet it's one of the only things that simulate you having a chapter. Rogue Trader The combat is alright once you run through a few dozen battles and understand it. But by that point it's act 4 and you're already being rushed to finish the game. Would be higher if Owlcat were allowed to finish it. Chaos Gate Haven't played, still has Denuvo. Should probably be lower. Space Marine 2? Not sure where this one goes. Probably here. >Neophyte Tier Deathwing They tried to make it good with an enhanced edition and it's fun with friends but you're just plodding along after tyranids. Bolt Gun A serviceable boomer shooter that gets repetitive. >Civilian Tier Hired Gun Not really a fan. Haven't played it since launch but it's probably still buggy.Darktide. That cash shop has more bug fixes than the actual game does.
[Expand Post] >Servitor Tier Mobile games go here. Dakka Squadron for instance. Aeronautica Imperialis: Flight Command Mobile flight game, enough said. It's about forbidden love between a Vindicare assassin and Taldeer the Eldar Farseer. https://1d6chan.miraheze.org/wiki/Story:Love_Can_Bloom BLAM >NobelDark Everything is still shit but that doesn't mean you can find some person happiness or hope in the setting. Rogue Trader is actually a good example of this. Still takes place in the GrimDark setting of 40k, yet since it tells alot of personal stories, there can be some personal happiness to be found. The brief time the RT has with Cassia before her mutations claim her for example. >GrimBright Everything is still shit but now there's an actual reason to be hopeful because a major change has happened. Humanity during the Great Crusades for example. Is basically post ep 25 of TTS. If the Emperor came back into the setting in some physical form, the GrimDark of 40k would become somewhat bright now that there's a figure for humanity to rally around.

>>1066792 > Love can bloom It's an absolutely heretical fanfic written, on /tg/ back in the day. An assassin from the Officio Assassinorum falls in love with an Eldar Farseer, It's unironically very well written and GW themselves have referenced it a few times. >"NobelDark" Things are pretty awful but, there are moments of genuine hope/happiness despite it all. Something like Bleakcore or Berserk represent it well, I'd argue older fantasy and Sci Fi such a Dune would also count. >"GrimBright" There is an underlying dread and uncertainty, but a lot of joy and fun still exist despite that underlying dread. Elder Scrolls, Dragon Age origins, Mass Effect are to name a few. <Tl;dr nig nog? NobleDark is an overt bleakness of the setting, but with elements of hope and personal triumph. GrimBright is an underlying bleakness of the setting with elements of despair and personal failure.
>>1066804 What's wrong, anon? Afraid of cute and CHAOTIC daemonettes that just want to show you a good time?
(39.27 KB 343x358 seen some heresy.jpg)

>>1066821 No heresy without protection.

(1.22 MB 600x600 HERESY.png)

>>1066842 Protection is for the weak, and in my brave new magical world, there shall be lots and lots of raw, unprotected sex for everyone, in every available hole.
>>1066793 Bionicle is GrimBright drops mic.
>>1066821 Nigger, your daemonette's definition of a good time involve slow slicing her partner with a penis-shaped scalpel, then putting glass shards inside her vagina so when she fucks him, she mutilates his penis. She then finishes by cutting her partner open and then masturbate with his guts, possibly while keeping him alive with several adrenaline injections. There is nothing cute about this, only heresy and depravity. Terminate on Sight.
>>1066926 If every daemonette is a reflection of Slaanesh, and Slaanesh has every fetish, you just need to role the dice and hope for the astronomically low chance you get the one that embodies Slaanesh's vanilla fetish (but at that point you may as well be a Tzeentch worshipper hoping for an outcome that unlikely)
>>1066926 Guro seems over-represented in Slaneesh's pantheon of fetishes. Why does a demon of pleasure insist on inflicting so much pain? Wouldn't she be at least a bit more creative or at least more tonally consistent with her pain, such as the glutton who stuffs themselves until their internal organs rupture, or shoving large objects in holes that are far too small - until they rupture, or the drug addict who's flesh necrotizes and falls off like they were shooting up Krocodil? I'm not that well versed on 40k lore, and I know the old Eldar had a thing about getting off/feeding by inflicting pain on others - so it kind of makes sense that a chaos god born of their perversions would likewise imprint their suffering fetish on it... but why the fuck would anybody who's NOT an Eldar succumb to her cult?
>>1066939 Well, Fulgrim was basically tricked into it, possessed by a Keeper of Secrets (greater demon of Slaanesh) and then only fell when he regained control and realized everything he'd done (namely killing his brother/bff Ferrus Manus) And even then, it's hinted that Slaanesh actually wanted Jaghatai Khan instead of Fulgrim (that Eldrad swapped their fate because space Genghis Khan as a daemon Primarch would be too much.)
>>1066939 >but why the fuck would anybody who's NOT an Eldar succumb to her cult? Basically they get groomed into it. >>1066934 There are really rare cases of neverborn not being assholes. There was even that one daemeonette that genuinely loved the human champions she was paired with rather than just using them. But it's really not something you want to roll the dice on.
>>1066939 >Why does a demon of pleasure insist on inflicting so much pain? Because it’s 40k. Everything is fucked by default. How would tabletop units based on scat even work?
>>1066955 I saw an idea somewhere about a Slaaneshiu cult that preys on other Chaos cults. The Inquisition find this small unique cult on a hive world and instead of debauched rituals and Daemonettes running about, it's a small imitation of an Imperial Shrine where they have the symbol of Slaanesh crossed out. The curious Inquisitor investigates the Cult's teaching and find they're based on Denial. Denial of pleasure, of corrupting humans and of allowing other Chaos cults, especially Tzeentch ones to gain a foot hold on the world. The Inquisitor snaps them up and use them as a covert force rooting out other cults on disputed worlds.
>>1066955 >How would tabletop units based on scat even work? That's basically half of what Nurgle aligned units do already.
>>1066939 >Why does a demon of pleasure insist on inflicting so much pain? They are demons of excess. They want more of everything, this includes pain and pleasure.
(424.69 KB 706x1200 I agree.png)

>>1066925 I actually agree. >>1066943 When will GW let his clone free?
Slaanesh was clearly the chaos god of lust/sex, but when GW realized littly timmy's parents won't buy him his overpriced plastic crack if they see there's naked titties in there they retconned him into "excess". All the retarded guro shit was thrown in there to further de-emphazise the lewd, as well as hitting all of his/her/its servants with the ugly stick. Khorne also used to be the patron of honorable combat back in the day, chaos in general has only been more and more flanderized from edition to edition but slaanesh has gotten the worst of it, culminating with his complete removal in Smegmar.
>>1067021 Smegmar is complete shit and fails each time despite all the push for it. I eagerly await the day they cease to support it in any way or form.
(16.81 KB 326x315 1427959118044.jpg)

>>1067021 I thought they had (relatively) recently added slaanesh to fantasy, you're telling me they remove him again?
>>1067021 Guro, snuff, and ryona are lust though. They’re sexual fetishes.
(104.86 KB 1000x667 AoSBeholdSlaanesh.jpg)

>>1067065 >I thought they had (relatively) recently added slaanesh to fantasy, What? No s/he's been there since the beginning in Fantasy. He/she/it just got "removed", in universe even, the elves bagged Slaanesh and locked him up in an extra planar prison and started trying to extract elf souls from him. Recently some of his restraints have snapped and Slaanesh was able to birth a sort of avatar/herald or something.
>>1066939 >Guro seems over-represented in Slaneesh's pantheon of fetishes i mean, the elves did murderfuck it into existence
>>1067021 Well it used to be that every chaos god had their noble aspect they represented. Khorne was honor and self improvement. Tzeentch was hope and positive change Slaanesh was inspiration and creativity Nurgle was mercy, empathy, and acceptance Which obviously got corrupted into improving yourself by dueling and killing strong warriors, lose yourself in change for the sake of change, use that inspiration to inspire yourself to greater heights of hedonism, and accept the inevitability of decay and the mercy of being a rotten puppet of the plaguefather. Which of course got flanderized into "BLUTFORTEHBLUTGOD", "WE GUN DO SOME HARRY POTTER MAGNUS THE RED MAGIC, ZAP MUTHAFUCKA!", "I'M DR. ROCKSO, THE ROCK N' ROLL CLOWN CHAMPION OF SLAANESH, I DO C-C-COCAINE!", and "FILTH, DISEASE, SHIT, FLIES, BELLS, RUST, MORE SHIT!"

What do you anons hope for new RT DLC?
(99.21 KB 600x600 Doomrider.jpg)

>>1067021 Given the age of the Noise Marines and Doomrider, I don't think that Slaanesh was ever not about excess.
>>1067774 I know the next DLC is going to give us an Arbites as the next companion, and possibly a cyber mastiff given the reference to dogs in the Owlcat FAQ. So probably the DLC will be based around investigating, maybe in a hive city on a new planet?

SPESS MAHREEN 3 CONFIRMED
>>1079180 They're just announcing it for investors to give money to the company. This shit is going to take like 3-5 years, too early for the average costumer. Just hope they add some Centurion armor I can pilot.
>>1079190 Who will be the new enemy? Genestealers? Necrons? Dark Eldar?
>>1077961 That's... hard to argue with
>>1079238 Probably Necrons since Space Marine 2 teased them at the end of its story mode.
>>1079263 I will enjoy when fa/tg/uys get mad that Titus can single-handedly annihilate an entire necron armada.
