The surgeon started by giving him drugs to supress his immune system, then he removed the guy's skin, then euthanized the collies and removed their pelts and grafted them onto the guy's body. He had the muzzle, ears, paw digits, and tail grafted on too. Surprisingly none of the dog's body parts got rejected. He had to fly back home on a small private plane (bribed the pilot) so the Thai authorities wouldn't find out. He never mentioned whether he got the penis/sheath/balls of the collie attached as well, but most commenters suspect he did.
