Phoenix Wright is a case of "absurd" localization where, as the series progresses, they translators have to grapple with the fact the games obviously take place in Japan, but they essentially "wrote" themselves into a corner by trying to "localize" the entire series as taking place in LA. Then there's also the case of NISA, where they either remove entire portions of games (At best) or brick your console if you dare to play it (At worst). Working Design is another infamous case for being incredibly terrible with their translations, which they only got away with for years because they lied about how the games they translated all "failed" in Japan.
