>A man wet himself and jumped on a van after a dog savaged him in an East London street, a court heard. Michael Miller (pictured) only had his foot on the lead of his dog 'Tek', a pit bull mastiff mix, when she leapt at terrified Wilder Georges on Stoke Newington High Street on October 28 2022, Wood Green Crown Court heard on Thursday, February 15.
>As Mr Georges went behind the bench, Tek 'lunged' at him bit his upper thigh [...] "The victim suffered an injury that was bleeding and wet himself from the stress of the incident. He described himself as having been very frightened"
>When police arrived they found Miller kneeling and trying to put his body under a parked van, which they later realised was his attempt to get hold of Tek. Meanwhile, Mr Georges had jumped onto another van and was standing on the roof calling out for help.
>Miller was previously given a 12 month conditional discharge in 2009 for owning a banned dog breed, and the former Class A user also has convictions for battery and being drunk and disorderly.
>Judge Karim Ezzat considered Miller's circumstances, which include claiming around £400 a month in universal credit and using heroin withdrawal medicine, when deciding to deal with him by way of an 18 month conditional discharge. He spared impecunious Miller the burden of £8,000 in kennelling costs, but ordered him to pay £300 compensation to Mr Georges. Judge Ezzat also concluded Miller needed to 'focus on himself' before getting another dog as he banned him from dog ownership for two years. Tek was also spared destruction and will live at a rescue centre.
